Customer Reviews of Rumba en la Habana Con Yoruba Andabo
Yoruba Andabo DVD-> As a professional musician involved in this musical idiom for many years and one of many in New York City who have viewed this "production", <
>I am amazed and saddened to see what is really a 90 min "Music Video". <
> <
>Nothing is played "live".... shockingly until the absolute very few last few min as the credits roll across the screen. <
>The singing as well as the drumming are all "lip sync".... in fact, all of the Rumba (except the Conga/Comparsa) are exactly the same previously recorded tracks on the Yoruba Andabo CD titled 'El Callejon de los rumberos" (PM records DM-203) **Recorded in 1993.... which makes the Rumba "sound tracks" on this DVD 12 YEARS OLD!!! <
>The above mentioned CD..... has the late Francisco Hernýndez Mora ('Pancho Quinto'), as well as *Odguardo Dýaz Amaya ('Roman'), (*who now resides in N.YC.) <
>BOTH PLAYING, so as one watches the DVD....... we hear them playing, but they are not even in the group shown on this DVD. <
> <
>While it is fairly easy to "lyp sync" singing in a music video..... it is very hard to fake the "drumming" <
>One close look at the drummers hands during all the Bata, Gýiro and Palo sections.... and it's blatantly obvious that they are not playing what is being heard on the "sound track"! <
> <
>While the visuals are somewhat entertaining....... this production is a sad dissapointment for "los de nosotros que saben" <
