Customer Reviews of Royal Rumble 1997
Royal Rumble 97' - better than I thought This PPV is definately above average. With the exception of the 6 man Mexican Tag match, the entire card had excellent build up and this PPV delivered. The opener HHH* vs. Goldust for the IC belt was a nicely executed 15+ minute match with an interesting finish. Ahmed Johnson vs. Farooq was your basic brawl, but was a pleasure for me to see Ahmed wrestle again. It's really a shame his career was cut short by injury. Vader vs. Taker was a decent match, nothing exceptional, but an interesting battle btw. powerhouses (nice to see Vader again). As for the Rumble, it was fun, nice to see a lot of old faces (and 4 more AAA Mexican wrestlers). Lots of greats still around near the end, Stone Cold, Rocky Mavia (The Rock), Mankind, Undertaker, Bret Hart, Fake Diesel (Kane), Terry Funk and Vader all hang around till the final minutes. A controversial ending but still a great moment in Stone Cold's career. As for the title match Sycho Sid* vs. Shawn Michaels, pretty good match, Sid isn't the best in the world but is carried nicely by HBK. Nice to see HBK return from injury to regain his title in his hometown. Overall one of the better PPVs of 97 and sets up WMXIII nicely.
Heres the lineup
HHH* vs. Goldust (w/ Marlena) - for IC Title
Farooq vs. Ahmed Johnson

1 of the best
From beginin 2 end this wwf royal rumble is pure action , the first match is a intercontinental title match between hhh and goldust good match. The RR also has undertaker vs vader , vader wins with a vader bomb and a little help from paul bear. Then the rumble , austin is eliminatwed but then cums bacl 2 win the rumble , (he cheats) there would be a 4 way title match at in your house because of wat happend. The the title match the best match of the night it is were hbk takes on sid , hbk wins his 2nd or 3rd title in his hometown san antionio texas , great wwf action everyone needs a copy of this tape-
Cool Rumble, but not the best
Royal Rumble 1997 was the showcase of 30 men fighting for a shot at the main event at Wrestlemania 13. First, let's go to the title match. HBK, in his home town of San Antonio, Texas, was about to take on WWF Champion, Psycho Sid. This match is an awesome match and very entertaining. HBK gets in the sweet chin music and wins the WWF title. Next, the Rumble itself. The focus: Stone Cold Steve Austin. Stone Cold had just been off winning the King of the Ring tournament, and starting a feud with Bret Hart. Austin entered early in the Rumble match, and lasted all throughout the Rumble. It's a conterversial finish, but in the end, Stone Cold wins the Royal Rumble. Overall, it's a good show and worth renting, unless you're a Stone Cold fan, you might want to pick this up.
