Originally created in 1780, the Blue Willow collection from Royal Cuthbertson features a traditional blue and white pattern that has been utilized by various porcelain makers for centuries. The pattern captures an ancient Chinese myth of star-crossed lovers who die tragically, but are then immortalized as two turtledoves eternally reunited. Depicted on the bowl of the sauceboat, are key elements from this classic story; a pagoda, willow tree, a boat, and of course the two birds. Each image helps to tell the story of the couple's escape and inevitable death that then reunites them.

Measuring 5- by 5-1/2- by 8-inches, this sauceboat and tray is ideal for serving gravy, sauce, or au jus for the table.
