Embracing Vista
The now fully certified Easy Media Creator 10, is the ideal complement and enhancement to Microsoft Vista. The product now sports a stunning new "Aero" User Interface design in keeping with the visual appeal of the latest Operating System. Perhaps more importantly, Easy Media Creator offers new features and capabilities that are specifically designed to naturally extend the digital-media functionality of Vista. Creator now also includes new Vista gadgets, which make it convenient for users to quickly convert audio and video files to a favorite file type directly on the Vista desktop. In the case of the audio gadget, users can also use it to capture audio from various sources including streaming Web audio.
Mobile Companion
Easily Media Creator 10 adds a number of features to allow users to maximize the use of their multi-media enabled devices. Enhancing Audio
For audiophiles, Easy Media Creator makes improvements to AutoMix a feature that automatically generates a collection of songs that sound great together based on a single Ôseed' song selected by the user. DVD Music Album, the feature that allows users to create 50-hour music DVDs complete with on-screen navigation has been enhanced with a range of new professionally-designed menu templates. Data Protection

Creator supports a range of backup devices and media including Blu-ray Discs and HD DVD discs. Large files can be automatically spanned across multiple discs as required. Customer Reviews of Roxio Easy Media Creator Suite 10
MediaCreator 10 on Vista notebook: NOT RECOMMENDED I installed EMC10 on a new Gateway Vista notebook PC. I was able to capture an old home VHS video played on a VCR through a USB-based capture device. But once it was captured on disk and I tried to edit it or recode it, the EMC10 program locked up. Every time I tried to edit or recode a video file the program would lock up tight, and I'd have to reboot. I thought maybe there would be a repair for the problem, so I tried to get an update, but the EMC10 update feature doesn't work. It has some other problem, and there's no support except the online update. So now I'm stuck with a "fancy" program that can't be updated and doesn't work. I using VideoReDo to edit the videos, and DvdStyler to produce DVD images. The only function I'm getting out of EMC10 is video capture and writing the completed ISO image to DVD. Not recommended.

This software is great fun. Lots of choices and is great for your creative projects.
A cornucopia of media options; runs fine on my new Vista PC
I guess I'm a lone voice crying in the wilderness because I like this product. I can't say that I've used every one of the dozens of features this software includes, but I haven't run into any problems so far - and it's nice to know that I now have the capability to do so many other things I would never have even thought about doing before. The main draw for me was the video editing and DVD creation features - everything else in Roxio Easy Media Creator 10 Suite is just icing on the cake for me. That being said, you are going to need a pretty good computer to make all of this magic happen. When I first got this product, I had a five-years-old XP machine with limited memory. I had no trouble installing the software, but I was very limited in what I could do, especially in terms of video editing. Now I have a Vista PC with 4 GB of RAM, which means I am pretty much ready to Roxio and roll. I did have some trouble installing this on my new PC, but that was because my PC came with Roxio Creator DE and I didn't want to uninstall that until I knew this new software was working problem-free. All I had to do to get past this was to kill my preexisting Roxio processes in the Task Manager before installing this new software. It was easy to do - my only complaint was that I had to figure this out on my own, as it wasn't mentioned in the documentation.

>So what all can this puppy do? Let's start with the video options. You can capture video directly or import it from your digital camcorder, rip it from your non-encrypted DVDs, edit it, save it, export it, watch it, convert it, etc. You can even upload videos to YouTube in one quick step. Now I can finally transfer some of my old analog video to digital - up until now, I could transfer video to DVD, but I couldn't transfer it to my computer or edit it at all. That means I'll finally be able to post some video of my late, beloved canine buddy on YouTube. You don't have to be a total AV geek to do this stuff, either. If the thought of turning your old home video into a "movie" scares you, you can just make a few basic choices and let the software do it for you. All of the advanced video editing features will still be there when you're ready for them. This isn't the most powerful video editing software in the world, but it's more than most of us will ever need. I just want to be able to share my home videos with family and friends, not try to follow in the footsteps of George Lucas.

If you already have a good photo editing program like Photoshop or Fireworks, Roxio's Photo Suite has nothing to offer you, but it's a good, basic editor for newbies. You can also create slideshows, panoramas, and other types of photo projects with this software. Again, many users will already have bigger and better ways of doing the same thing, but I certainly don't begrudge the fact that these options are included here - and some will definitely find these things of use. The same goes for the Roxio Media Manager, which includes the ability to synchronize photos and videos with any mobile device you might have.

>Turning to audio, you get a myriad of features for ripping, burning, and organizing your files. There's a Sound Editor that lets you add sound effects and/or edit and mix different audio tracks, a Batch Audio Converter that lets you convert your audio files to different formats, and a program that allows you to record analog audio from LPs and tapes (a Recording Setup Guide shows you how to hook the different components together). If you're as old as I am, you have a lot of great music on LP and tape that you would love to have easier access to. Roxio's Data and Backup utilities help you back up your important data files, a Disc Gallery lets you index all of the files on your discs, and Express Labeler and Label Creator make it easier to keep your discs organized.

Chances are that you're going to have different software programs you prefer to use for different things, but Easy Media Creator Suite 10 is such a complete package of products that you're sure to find a use for it in a number of different ways. I might still use ITunes for my music, Fireworks for my photo editing, and Windows Movie Maker for some of my video editing, but I'm still quite happy with this software package.
