Its good, despite the cheese-whiz covers
I read romantic times magazines for the plot synopsis and reviews of upcoming titles. Part of me wishes the editors would focus more on romance and less on general fiction and other subjects (I have no interest in children's books or articles about cover models). <

Excellent magazine
I had only picked up the magazine today because I saw Laurell K. Hamilton on the cover. But as I flipped through the magazine I fell in love with it. It's very thorough in it's reviews, upcoming releases, and and the articles are great. I also checked out the website which is very organized and you can research books that may interest you. It also has some writing tips for writers, which is especially useful to me. This magazine is my new favorite, I like looking for new great authors and books, and this magazine does all the work for me!

Essential Magazine for book lovers Everywhere!
This magazine put a "end" to the meaning "Judge a book by its cover" before this magazine I went into bookstores, grocery stores etc read the synopsis in the back of the book, read the inside scene *teaser* paragraph and pretty much made the decision based on these 2 things whether or not to purchase the books. Romantic Times bookclub features plot information in full detail without giving away the spoilers, will let you know if the book is sensual, steamy, thriller, if the suspense dealt with a matter that was not easy for a reader i.e.; child molestation, child murder etc. Giving you much more information to make a decision if you want to purchase a book or not. <

>I subscribed to this magazine for nearly 6 years (back in the early 90's) then I let my membership lapse because I thought the reviewers were playing favorites to "well known" authors... which of course resulted in my TBR(to be read)piles overflowing and my pocket change being further depleted..... Although I had given up on the subscription I had not given up on the website which had the same VITAL information regarding books. Recently they revamped the website and as a reviewer before me mentioned also changed some of their focus in the magazine to broader genres to include more than just romance. So that in mind I again began my subscription in hopes that a lot of what I found years ago has decreased i.e.; the Nora Roberts, Iris Johansen, Karen Robards of the worlds will get a fair review not just a GIVEN 4 stars automatically just based upon their names. <

>My recommendation is to go through the magazine "highlight" the books you are interested in then and I know this is hard to do but WAIT until it is out and people read the books to form a opinion especially at the cost of hardcovers and trade paperbacks these days. I do this now I come on amazon check out the reviews here (after I have highlighted the books) and make a decision if the book is worth waiting for on the second run i.e.; USED BOOK STORES or discounted here at Amazon. <
