Customer Reviews of Rocki's Prenatal Yoga
Best Pregnancy Yoga Tape I've Found I have five pregnancy yoga tapes, and this is my favorite. It mixes some traditional yoga poses in with some especially designed for pregnancy. It contains kegel exercises, and some pilates-style leg lifts.
The first 1/2 of the tape is floorwork/poses (downward dog, squats, leg lifts), and then it moves on to standing work (tree pose, spinal twists, more squats). The video ends with some stretching and relaxation.
Rocki has a very calming voice, and doesn't talk too much during the workout. Not only will you feel more energized after this video, but you will feel like you got a workout in too. You will get a little cardio benefit from it, as well as stretching and relaxation.
Getting the baby connection
I'm in my third trimester and I feel great! I owe a lot to Rocki and her yoga. I feel really good after a workout and I really feel that I'm connecting with my baby. I like the different shapes and sized women on the DVD-makes me feel better about my ability (and the way I look right now). Best of all, I feel a connection with the new baby that I wouldn't have made time for every day without this workout. I would highly recommend this video.
A disappointment
I am not a yoga expert but I have been doing it sporadically for about a year. I already had Shiva Rea's video when I got this and the difference is huge. Shiva has models in each trimester showing the specific modifications you need to make, and she not only shows but tells you how to do them. Everything flows and it's very relaxing. Rocki has lots of variously pregnant women who appear to be doing pretty much the same thing, and her suggestion for modification is "do what you feel is comfortable," which is fine, but not very concrete. I was uncomfortable that she demonstrated downward dog without modifications, since I have heard that your head shouldn't go beneath your waist. I found the repeated kegels boring- a few are fine, but it seemed like half her program focused on kegels. And the leg lifts were not relaxing. She goes too fast and practically counts cadence. I look for stretching and relaxation from yoga and this did not fit the bill.
