From the start, Robinson Crusoe is a gripping game, brilliantly narrated by Martin Jarvis. It opens with stirring dramatic music as Crusoe talks of his desire to travel the oceans of the world despite the strong opposition of his father. Unfortunately, lightning strikes his ship, and from the moment you see Crusoe arrive alone on the beach, you have to take on his role. Stranded alone on the Island of Despair, you must keep your spirits up and carry out various tasks to prevent yourself from starving or becoming the victim of a savage wild animal.
Your first task is to get on board the shipwreck. Using your mouse button, you have to collect all the pieces you need to build a raft, which will then hopefully take you and the remaining food and water ashore. The scenes are very atmospheric and well illustrated, and you even need to wait for a low tide before you head for the wreck.
This game comes with clear instructions on how to navigate through the adventure. By clicking on a book icon, you can find tools or objects to make life on the island easier. When you hold down the mouse button, you can enjoy panoramic views of the island as if you were actually standing there. And, like Crusoe, you have to constantly beware of the cannibals. --Justin Hunt

Customer Reviews of Robinson Crusoe
A disappointment I bought this game for my 10 year old, and both she and I were really disappointed by it. Basically, it is a journal of Robinson Crusoe's life on the island, with some oppoutruinities to "try out" some of his tasks as you read along. It is not a game, really, in that you are not required to accomplish anything before moving on...all you can do is add color to pictures in the journal if you have successfully accomplished something described therein. Since it is never really clear just what you can try to do, and where you have to go on the island map to do it, it is very confusing. <

>I don't think we ever bothered to try out everything. It was too dull.
Is this supposed to be fun?
If you are looking for a fun game to play with your kids, keep looking. My 8 year old and I could not navigate through the game even after reading the instructions several times. The play is not in 3D animation.
We're not quitters, so we read the same "book" in the story and wandered around the ship trying to pick up objects, but there is no place to keep an inventory and no way to "grab" the objects.
This game is not like Harry Potter or even Nancy Drew, where you can go different places or follow a path. Its based on a 2D drawing that doesn't "do" anything! It is frustrating, useless and not entertaining. Save your money, even if it's only $!
A fun game
This game is fun because its not like normal games. You have to survive without your parents. The game is a lot of fun.You have to find food, shelter and water in order to play farther in the game. The graphics in this game are wonderful.
