Customer Reviews of Road & Track
The magazine to see the cars you can't afford Road & Track is arguably the best automotive magazine out there. It has the best photography, and covers a wide range of intriguing cars. It provides excellent coverage of the latest from Ferarri and Porche, along with great articles on classic race cars. <
>Where R&T slacks, however, is on its coverage of every day cars. Your not going to find too much about the Ford Focus in this magazine. <
>If you are looking for a magazine to learn about the standard cars on the auto market, go for Motor Trend, but if you are looking for a magazine that covers exotic cars the car-lovers way, this is the magazine for you
Okay only if you're a serious gearhead
In my opinion Road & Track is just okay. While they test the
<
>newest cars and always have the lastest news on the auto industry, the magazine entirely lacks humor and is plain boring. By itself its okay but not when compared to its rivals such as Motor Trend, and R&Ts sister magazine Car & Driver- which is in my opinion the best by far. Also, Road & Track probably doesn't test half as many cars a year as Car & Driver does, and they don't test SUVs, minivans or pickup trucks as do its rivals. Road & Track's writing style can also tend to get boring without an ounce of humor, just strictly 'technical' stuff. The editors are also seem to be afraid to criticize poor performing vehicles, instead giving praise to every car they test.
<
> If the traits of Road & Track forementioned above don't bother you in the slightest, then feel free to subscribe- but make sure you purchase a newsstand copy first just to make sure you like it- otherwise buy Car & Driver or at least Motor Trend.
Automotive Journalism at its best
I'm a subscriber to Road & Track, Car and Driver, and Motor Trend. Simply put, R&T is the one I look forward to the most each month.

<
>If you're looking for a well-rounded auto magazine, this is it. In R&T you'll find:
<
>-Road Tests and First Drives.
<
>-An excellent "Ampersand" monthly feature with all the latest info on future cars and prototypes.
<
>-News about the latest races and drivers.
<
>-Top-notch photography and art.
<
>-Witty columnists. (see Side Glances by Peter Egan)
<
>-The occasional technology-related feature.
<
>-Classic cars, classic drivers, classic tracks. The best historical content in the business.
<
>-Very little content on SUVs. (a positive in my book)

<
>The competitors:
<
>Car and Driver has substantially more road tests and previews, and some good specialty features on a pretty regular basis, but hardly anything on racing and history.

<
>Frankly, Motor Trend isn't anything to write home about. The articles are shorter and less captivating, they can't seem to settle on a design theme, and they also have a lack of racing and historical content.

>If I had to pick just one, Road & Track would definitely be my choice.
