Customer Reviews of Rip It Up
DEAD OR ALIVE IS ALIVE IN THE 80S. Oh, how I miss the 80s and especially the likes of Culture Club, Spandau Ballet, and these dance pop wonders Dead or Alive. With there big hit "You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)", "Brand New Lover", and "Something In My House", you can't help but put on your dancing shoes and dance like a mad person in your living room, or move around like a mexican jumping bean in your car while people look at you thinking you are ready for that padded room. Dead or Alive's songs may sound similar to each other, but heh?, I like the beat and it is easy to dance to.
Dead Or Alive are the ultimate grind your hips dance group.
This CD is one to be found in every dance musicholic's collection. All eight tracks on this CD are reworkings of already irresistable dance classics from this on the edge of your seat to the dance floor quartet. The hardest thing for any musical artist to accomplish is improve on original recordings...Dead Or Alive does that with ease and that irresisatble campy flair that infects every one of these cuts. Anyone who truly loves high energy dance music this album is a must for your collection. Don't be without it!
You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)
Dead or Alive is one of my favorite bands back from the era when hair crimping, day glo colors, and Atari 2600 was all the rage. DOA had two of the catchiest club pop songs during the '80s ("Brand New Lover" and the eternal classic "You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)"). I recently popped in "Rip It Up" into my stereo. I still love the songs but I just can't believe how awful the production was on this 8 song compilation. Still the songs themselves make up for the highly questionable production job. Almost twenty years later, I still find myself humming along to two of my personal favorite new wave songs to date "Brand New Lover" and of course "You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)". The songs are irresistably infectious and hard not to have those songs stuck in your head. I especially adore "You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)". No matter how many times I listen to that song, I can never tire of it. Asides from the group's two biggest hits, the rest of the songs are equally catchy and immensely fun to dance along to.
