Customer Reviews of Ridge Racer
Ridge Racer DS is just okay, not great Well, I bought this game on sale at a GameStop and it came out to be a bit of a dissapointment. It just doesn't hold much water as a racing title. The handling is very loosey-goosey, which is fine in a way because it's an arcade racer, but this goes too far. Mario Kart DS is a much better choice and there really isn't a good racer besides that out for the system right now. Like Guilty Gear in fighting for the DS (at the time of this review), Mario Kart is a much better choice though of course the whole feel and montage of the two games are a bit different. But Ridge Racer DS feels a bit watered-down and not quite worth the money, especially if someone payed full price for the title. Undoubtedly fun and tempting to buy because of the Ridge Racer brand, but other than that this is probably one to avoid in favor of Mario Kart or just another title or investment altogether.
I'd rather be playing Ridge Racer R4
I had high hopes for this game, and had fun for the first 6 races. Then it let me down, all the control options suck, and you can't see ahead on the track to anticipate turns at all. I'm selling this and going back to Ridge Racer R4 for the original playstation, this game NEEDS a good analog stick to play properly.
Proof that The DS is not a system for racing games
I will admit that I thnk that Mario Kart is the most boring racing game I have ever played. The tracks are lame, the weapons add nothing to the game, and it's also not fun when it feels like you are driving one mile an hour. Sure, Mario kart does have a couple of genius tracks (such as Walugi's pinball) and the battle mode is fun, but still, the game easily is overrated (not the Mario platformers, which I think are some of the best games to exist).

>SO why am I telling you this? Because even with Mario Kart DS, there are NO good racing games for the DS. PSP may not have the addicting puzzle games and niche games that the DS has (Warioware, Magnetica, Meteos, there are too many awesome exclusives!), but when it comes to convential games such as Racing and sports (P.S. Sport games are lame), DS reeks. And this game is a fine example.

>First off Ridge Racer is only for an analog stick, end of story. Driving is horrible, and the only way to drive is with the directional pad or the "innovative" touch screens steering. Neither work, and with both, you hit walls and skid out of control, often letting about 5 cars pass you, and you lose the race. It may sound like something you ca n get used to, but what you get for hours or practicing are basically ugly tracks and cars.

>The tracks are lame and stupid, like all other tracks on the DS. The cars are equally as lame, so that means that you don't get that much for beating the level. Sure, maybe if you are poor,k then by all means get it. ANd the thirty dollar price tag is outrageous, considering what a ripofff this game is. And no REiko? Yes, I know you probally compainging about that line, but could you imagine a football team without a mascot? Maybe so, but the point is, this game is not worth your money.

>The PSP version, on the other hand, has turbo, beautilful graphics, sleek drool incudcing cars, fun drifting abilities, and basically the console expirece. And the analog stick works like the PS2 version would. It shows that racing games are for the PSP only, no matter what. PLus, the interface is sleek like Ridge, there is a ton of music, so basically, it's the best.

>If you have a DS, stick with racing games on the console, you'll have more fun. IF you have both DS and PSP, the PSP version, no questions asked.

>PS I have A DS, and I DO own this game (actually I sold it for a lousy 2 dollar credit). I also have Asphault Urban GT, which I also sold.
