Customer Reviews of Rick Steves Europe DVD:Italy
Wonderful for the Arm Chair Traveler. Rick Steve's adventures in Italy were fun, entertaining, knowledge based, and historical. He will take you on 8 - 30 minute tours of different regions of Italy for a whopping 4 hours of Arm Chair Travel. Combined with his guidebook, this makes a wonderful complement to bring what he recommends and writes about to a breathtaking reality. <

>The filming was excellent, and there was no camera shake. A truly professionally done series. I will buy his others of interest to me. <

>You will see Venice, Rome, Tuscany:Florence, Umbria, Siena, and Assisi and a few other small hilltop villages. Cinque Terre, and Sicily are just absolutely beautiful. Both of these locations revolves around seaside villages and island living. <

>You will learn about tips for travel, history, culture, art, food, trade, and the villages as set by modern day. This DVD will be inspiring you to get out of that arm chair and on a plane to see it in real life. Rick Steve's way of showing you around is quite enjoyable, with a display of a good sense of humor. He goes deep within the countryside and befriends locals beyond the touristy areas. His style is to venture off the beaten path whenever possible and to enjoy the company of Italian people and their hospitality by opening their home to you. <

>Until the day my husband and I can get to Italy, Greece is first though, this DVD will just have to do, to bring me to Italy for now. Very relaxing.

>I've been to Italy many times but not to every little nook and cranny. Rick will take you there. Nothing better on the market to highlight the "non tourist" areas and routes to get around.

Visiting Rome and Florence
My husband and I visited Italy for the first time -- my sister was our tour guide, since she travels to Rome quite frequently. The food was awesome, and the shopping was even better (especially in Florence). The Colluseum and St. Peter's were just breathtaking -- Borghese Galleries was wonderful, although we had to walk there in a rainstorm. My sister took us to the Pasta Museum -- not worth the $$.

>The only item I would add to this video is that Rome is very hard to get around, and our impression of Rome is that it is very dirty -- lots of graffiti and garbage and cigarettes!! Very disappointing that the citizens of Rome would allow this to happen to their otherwise beautiful city!
