The game is interspersed with movie-style cut scenes that all too often annoy rather than elucidate. The gist of the story is this: you and your special forces teammates have come to investigate the disappearance of the last team, and you have no idea what you're getting into. You spend the rest of the game trying to find your way out of the mansion in which you're trapped. The bottom line: If you like zombie flicks, buy it, play it, love it. Video game gold for zombie fans... Even with the advent of the PS2/3, the original "Resident Evil" still holds its water against the modern era of video games. It set the standard for "survival horror" in video games. It frightens and delights. The controls take a little to get down, and the intensity and urgency of the game demand that you get those under control or be eaten. <

Always a classic
I love everything about this game (well, except going for the infinate launcher with no saves, getting almost to the end and getting my head lopped off by a hunter) but other than that it's pure gold. The cheesy voice acting really adds to the gameplay because it's really good for a few laughs, (acting classes? bah. who needs 'em?) but it doesn't throw off the whole mood of the setting. There's a couple of nifty secrets and a ton of replay value (which isn't very common in many games these days sadly.) and at this price it's really hard to pass up such a great classic.

For all of you complainers...
One of my top 5 fave games (I include both the DC version and the GC version as the same), with so many awesome characters and monsters, and the coolest house in gaming history.

>If you want this game, and only want to use the analog sticks, then pick up the Greatest Hits edition, the cover should have the first zombie that you meet in the game on it, and with a blood puddle that says "Now compatable with the DUALSHOCK controller".
