Customer Reviews of Reservoir Dogs - (Mr. Blond) 10th Anniversary Special Limited Edition
Six guys...Six strangers...One a rat. in the house! BUT WHO? This movie is an excellent film Quentin Tarantino's directorial debut and ground breaking film that pushed independent films into the main stream..
This film stars Harvey keitel, Tim Roth, Chris Penn,Michael Madsen, Steve Buscemi,Edward Bunker, lawrence T. also starring
Quentin Tarantino ...
Six career criminals are asked to pull a Heist by joe Cabot the main man behind the job. With the help of his son Nice guy eddie they want to pull off the job of a lifetime. The six... They know nothing about each other and asked not to ask personal questions about each other..except to call each other by fake names:
Mr. White: Harvey Keitel
Mr. Orange: Tim Roth
Mr. Pink : Steve Buscemi
Mr. Blue: Edward Bunker
Mr. Blonde: Michael Madsen
Mr. Brown: Quentin Tarantino
The plan and the Heist is simple..no one knows nothing about each other this way no one can be linked to each other. It's simple couple minutes in couple minutes out.it's the perfect plan..right...wrong..the simple plan turns into a bloody mess. the movie starts out simple just a couple of guys talking than cut to the next scene a jaw dropping beginning....the movie just gets crazier and crazier as the movie goes on with a heratbreaking and startling ending.
This movie rocks...
i became a fan of Tarantino's work from watching Pulp Fiction.
i also became a fan of Tim Roth's after seeing the tv movie Murder in the heartland....
This movie is a gripping tale that shows there is no loyalty among criminals. this is one of the best crime films..best films period, that I have ever seen. The film is shot in a incredible way taking us back and forth over the day of the robbery and The planning of teh robbery.. This provides the viewer with alot of violence, a difficult to solve mystery, and outstanding dialogue between the characters and outstanding performances by the actors. This is the first crime film that I have seen that is based solely on the personalities of the characters, and not the story.
The break out actor in the movie is Tim Roth....I mean can you see anyone else playing this part. the thing that shocks me the most of this movie threw out the entire time they are tryin to solve the mystery while Tim Roth is lying down bleeding to death on the floor.. take a look at his shirt thru out the movie.what gripped me abou this movie is how real his performance is and how great he is in this movie..you can also see tim roth in other movies ...legend of 1900, vatel, murder in the heartland .make it availble to all regional encoding dvd players...*SMILES*
Violent, but an interesting take on the male bonding thing.
A violent film that really makes you think,(even though it probably was meant not to), Reservoir Dogs is the directorial debut of famed cult director Quintin Tarrantino. This film only goes to prove that there is definately NO honor among thieves, and shows how demented and sadistic the human mind can be. The film starts out with a constantly circling camera movement through a run-of-the-mill formica table-laden diner. The main subjects: our stars. Their Conversation: Madonna and waitress tipping. Laid back and calm, the beginning falsely advertises the amount of tention and chilling violence that is later to come in Reservoir Dogs. Soon after their casual lunch and stroll through an alley, we are exposed to the real side of the movie. This "real" side starts off with a pale, bleeding, profanity-spewing,and frightened Tim Roth struggling to breath in the backseat of a car, driven by an almost equally frightened, but much cooler, Harvey Keitel. Almost tame compared to the events to come, it is a brutal introduction to the film's actual plot. In the next hour 1/2, we will see a torture scene involving an innocent cop and a straight razor (you will never hear "Stuck in the Middle With You" the same way again), two cops getting shot to pieces in their car, a woman shooting a man at point blank range (with the favor returned), and a Mexican stand-off between 4 guys where every one gets shot. As I said, violent, but not lacking in plot. I have read many reviews saying that Reservoir Dogs is light on the plot, but my oppinion differs. Reservoir Dogs is like several plots rolled into one. We get to see various characters, each with their own little scene that explains their personalities. We can get into the minds of the gangsters, and get to know them all through these little subscenes. Raw acting and good performances all around, I would definately give it 5 stars and recommend it to anyone who can stomach it.
Stylized, intelligent--but someone tell Quentin he can't act
To a degree amateurish, but to an equal degree compelling and original, Reservoir Dogs is a stylistic, gritty look at the gangsters of Quentin Tarantino's imagination. The story, such as it is, is the weak point of the film. The strange tale of an undercover cop who tries to bust up a family-sized gangster ring is just plain silly at times. The strong points, however, are many. Each character has a terrific, interesting voice; the dialogue is snappy and artistic; the music choices are inspired. And that infamous "ear" scene? Frankly, it's one of the few scenes that doesn't work. It just comes off as dumb.
Think of Reservior Dogs as the rough sketch for a movie yet to come: Pulp Fiction. Pulp Fiction is superior in every respect, but it's a treat to see its progenitor.
