Customer Reviews of Requiem From the Darkness Vol 4
A great close for an amazing Anime Sandwiched between all the cyberpunks, magical girls and big mecha are those few anime that sorta bend the rules and break with tradition. "Requiem from the Darkness" is such an anime. With a highly stylized look that crosses anime with Brit punk comics and a story steeped in Japanese horror "Requiem" truly offers something different. <

>Previous volume introduced us to Momosuke,a well meaning but slightly clutsy writer who is out to write the "100 stories" a collection of Japanese ghost stories. As he wonders the countryside he meets up with 3 otherworldly beings Ogin, Nagamimi, and Ichiro who are justice seekers out to exorcise evil. <

>In the final volume Momosuke hear talk of sea ghosts who are terrorizing a small fishing village. Investigating the disappearance of several fisherman he soon learns the truth about the sea ghosts and the mystery behind twin island. <

>The final two episodes are very violent are graphic and build upon the mystery of twin island. Momosuke hears tales about a terrible curse in the Kingdom of Kitabayashi. In the Kingdom people are being slaughtered by their own feudal lord and rumours run rampant about a terrible curse of death which grows exponentially. While invetsigating Momosuke is reunited with his old freins and learns that the evil lord of Kitabayashi is planning to resurect the evil that was on twin island. <

>Not for the squeamish, this disc nicely closes what has been a great anime series. I do agree with the other reviewer that some of the art wasnt that great in spots compared to previous episodes which may have been rushing to meet deadlines. A small gripe in an otherwise fantastic disc.
The final nightmare
These final episodes provide a so-so ending to an otherwise great series. The ending is your typical anime Revelations, Akira-type, all hell is breaking loose(literally)ending which doesn't seem to answer all the questions. The CG work seems more jarring in these episodes, as if the animators were on a tight schedule.I still enjoyed the characters, the style and the music of this series, it's a pity that the ending could has been better.
