Customer Reviews of Remanufactured Magnavox 26MD255V 26" Widescreen LCD TV/DVD Combo
flawed jewel The specs for this TV and the price(I paid $499 delivered to my door) are tremendous. The picture quality of regular cable TV and DVD are far above most, in my opinion(I'm not an expert, but I've looked at a few sets, and have been looking for a HDTV for awhile.) I've owned this for about 1 month with the following problems: most seriously, it refused to turn on the other day, and it has required more and more button presses to finally get it to turn on. I have finally decided to just leave it on all the time; it sits crooked on its base which I cured by wadding a paper towel and placing it under one side of the base. Overall, for my own peace of mind, I would probably not buy it again. I think a 90-day warranty is insufficiently safe for something as expensive as HDTV.
Worst money I ever spent
TV worked great for about 4 months. The problems started with the DVD player. It stopped working. Then the TV started changing channels on its own and turning itself on and off. In the end the TV couldnt even stay plugged in. It would turn on and off continuosly so it was basically unusable. Now its just an $800 dollar paper weight. Phillips was absolutely no help since the TV only has a 90 day warranty. They offered me a new TV at a huge discount, $800 dollars!!!! Thats the same price i paid for it to begin with!! Check the internet for other reviews and you will see other people with the exact same problems in about the exact same timeline. I wish i did before i bought the TV. Why do you think there are so many refurbished models for sale???
Great picture, no complaints
I've owned my refurbished unit now for 6 months and have not had any issues. The picture is great, especially for watching in 16:9. The DVD player is still working. I buy all my goods through Amazon because of their customer service. Let me say when you buy a refurbished product you are getting a significant discount because of the warranty. I hate when people complain about products when they do not do their due diligence. If you are worried about product breaking then buy an extended warranty or buy new. Don't put up a bad review just becuase a DVD broke after 4 months. Do not let one bad experience disuuade you from buying any refurbished product.
