Customer Reviews of Remanufactured Brother MFC-4800 Multifunction Printer, Scanner, Copier & Fax (EMFC-4800)
Mine worked great I have had my Brother MFC-4800 for 4 years now...all with trouble free operation. Only bummer thing now is that drum unit went out. Too expensive to replace, so I am buying a new unit.
Avoid Brother
There is a reason this printer is refurbished - it sucks!

>I had mine for eight months when it broke the first time - the evil Error 41 of death. (Printhead failure) After holding for thirty minutes, I did get hold of customer service who took my credit card # and Fedexed me another - they take your CC # so that if you do not return the broken printer within 3 days, they'll charge you the full price. In my case, Fedex failed to show up twice for a pick-up so it was late. Thankfully, Brother took off the charge after Fedex admitted they'd skipped me two days running.

>The send you a refurbished printer and then give you the remainder of your year warranty, which for me was 4 months. It's exactly eight months later and my printer broke down again with the Error 41. Both times, I hadn't even used up the original ink supply. While Brother likes to say the Error message only comes up when ink not manufactured by Brother is used that's not the case. I was told that to fix my printer I'd have to buy a new printhead ($50 to $100 depending on where you look) and then have it installed - It was much cheaper to buy a new printer. The other thing they said is that excessive use can wear out a printhead faster. I used my printer maybe once a week tops so that's not the case either! I'm avoiding Brother like the plague! I'm with HP now, and my friend has had good luck with hers for the past three years, so I'm hoping the same is true for me!
Never buy brother
Brother MFC printers big disappointment...mine broke just at the end of warranty period and i had bad experience with MFC 5100 C also!!!!
