Customer Reviews of Reason to Die
A B-Movie Bonanza! Killing Crime-Spree Included! Made in 1989, this is one of AV's first American films (before The Mummmy) and boy is it a bloody one! 14 people, including half dozen police officers are either viciously slashed or cruelly shot down before the end. WOW! This one deserves 5 stars only for the performance of Arnold Vosloo. AV plays the PURFECT psychopathic killer on a rampage. This is one of his first movies with bounty hunter Wings Hauser. 'Reason to Die' is action packed--or murder packed might be a better way to describe this massacre of a film. AV portrays killers like no actor I've seen before. His performance as Wilson is 'bloody good.' For die-hard fans of AV or Wings, this is a must have.
AV's sister Kathy, who is never shown, overdoses on heroin with a group of prostitutes. This is what sends AV over the edge. Before the opening credits roll, AV has already killed 6 hookers and is out on bail. He then 'guts' a man in his New York hotel room with a switchblade--and we all know how good AV is with a weapon. Stealing his passport, AV heads back home to Angelique, Africa for some more 'fun'. Wings hears about similar murders in Africa and heads there to bring AV back. AV, however, has other plans--finding his dead sister. With each prostitute he meets, he asks, do you know Kathy? When the reply is no, he slashes at their bossoms and 'guts' them! The blood flow is almost endless. AV becomes fixated on a reporter who writes an article about the killings and is out to get her. Wings and the reporter share a bond through out the film as he again and again tries to protect her. One scene has him killing a store clerk. He takes the money out of the register and is about to leave when AV places a bill on the dead man back---and smiles. In another scene he meets a woman in church but she turns out to be a hooker. She Takes him home and before he slashes her, he arches his eyebrows and asks do you know Kathy? This one lies--says yes--but he slashes and 'guts' her anyway.
You almost get the feeling that AV is just too good for this role, and it's not just the gore of the film but it's AV performance of Wilson. He makes you feel an overwhelming amount of sympathy for the character. Even if the dialogue is restricted for him (do you know Kathy?), he shines with the amble amount of screen time. This is a great movie to watch on your day off or just to release 'stress.' Get it today, it's sure to please yah!

Vosloo fan reviews Reason to Die
This movie is about a bounty hunter(Wings Hauser) who goes after a man(Arnold Vosloo) who jumps bail and heads back to his native South Africa. Once the man gets to South Africa he starts to hunt down prostitutes. Hauser tries to catch and stop him. There's alot of action and alot of Arnold in this movie. Okay story line. A MUST for Vosloo fans.
