There are moments: in the James Bond-style credit sequence, Lilith's fanged mouth yawns wide, disgorging a veritable blizzard of razor blades. And in the black-and-white prelude, West's camera looks down on his voluptuous vampire, sprawled on a bed, the only color the scarlet drenching her dress, bloodying her mouth. But "artsy" razzle-dazzle can't distract from Razor Blade Smile's overall failure to arouse horror, lust, humor, or any other redeeming response. First-timer Eileen Daley makes Lilith so soignee and hip it hurts; her femme fatale's couture runs to multizippered, skintight black leather, shades, fur hats; the picture's completed by ebony mane, cheekbones to die for, and an extraordinarily mobile mouth with alarming overbite. Lilith kills time at a vampire/goth bar, shagging lesbian or stud, but what she really lives for are century-long power games played with the love of her life--er, death. This cynical horror flick punctures the very conventions that are the genre's lifeblood: encouraging egregious mugging and milking portentousness from every remark, Smile reduces the primal sex-death themes of authentic vampire fiction to kiss kiss/bang bang/bite bite. --Kathleen Murphy

Customer Reviews of Razor Blade Smile [Region 2]
Better The Second Time Around... I must admit that the first time I watched RAZOR BLADE SMILE, I had quite a few "WTF??" moments. However, the ending stitches it all together nicely, and made me grin. Eileen Daly is "The Angel Of Death", a vampire assassin whose skin-tight leather fashions had my attention immediately! She's blazing hot, and makes a wonderfully voluptuous neck-biter! Her seduction / playtime scenes sizzle right along, making me wish... well, never mind! As I said, the story itself seemed sort of lame, that is until the finalé. I enjoyed this movie more the second time. Watch it and you'll see what I mean...
All Style, No Substance
The opening title sequence is the best part of the film. There was a really interesting concept here, but alas, the director went for 'hot' film and stylish camera shots and neglected performance and plot - I don't think he could decide whether he was shooting a vampire flick or a softcore flick with vampires in it. There were also some continuity errors, such as one sequence where the vampire goes through the front door of a house, but the next shot shows her climbing in a window. However, it is visually interesting and there's a fair amount of pretty, naked people to ogle, so it's not a total loss.

>Not the worst, but definitely far from the best.
Cult Classic Vampire Love Story
This movie is on my must own, or watch list. I think all but the photographers (American) acting in it was good. Some of my favorite highlights include b british vampire movie, lots of great one liners, a who/what/when/where/why plot, and more realistic sexuality. The visuals make this movie a B type movie, the plot, and acting keep it going very well. I love that the main character rates people via the a,b,c, & f grade for their blood. I also feel the music was well chosen for this type of vampire movie. I hope you enjoy.
