Customer Reviews of Rainbow Fish - Fintastic Fun in Neptune Bay
Rainbow Fish - Fintastic Fun in Neptune Bay I agree with the previous review (about the language that is used), I got this DVD for my 4 year old son, who loves it but...although the stories are very cute and clever, the language that is used is a bit odd for a young childrens video, such as mean naming calling to others and using other offensive language (for small kids) like 'jerk' and more. Overall the stories are nice and well put together, I just wish they could find other words to use inplace of the harsher words they've chosen, especially when your child wants to watch it over and over again!!
Not for young children
I was extremely upset with this DVD. I plan to write to Sony & the producers of this show. I find it unnecessary for the writers to use the word "jerk" to describe unruly kids in school. That's all I need my 3 year old to start calling people. What is this world coming to that these writers feel the need to put such foul language in a children's movie. My children will never watch this movie again. I wouldn't recommend this unless you don't mind your kids using the word "jerk" It was used more than once.
Nothing fishy about this DVD
The VHS of the Rainbow Fish shows are great, but this improves upon them. The added material, plus the bi-lingual mode, all make for an entertaining and educational experience for the kids -- and, for the adults who watch along with them, prepare to be surprised at how clever and sharply drawn these stories are. Like the TV series it's taken from, these are wry, yet simple fish tales that deliver nice little messages without being preachy or heavy handed. Dive in, the water's fine.
