Customer Reviews of QPS QPCDRW121032I Internal 12x10x32 EIDE CD-RW Drive
Plextor in disguise My package did come with the Plextor drive. The drive itself had only the "plextor" label on it. The Teac and Plextor are both very well reviewed drives. I think the plextor wins in features such as overburn, audio extraction, and also has just about any feature you can think of for a CDRW. I've had this "Plextor" drive and have burned countless audio and data cds without a hitch. You can't go wrong with this package.
Teac 512EB in disguise
My experience with this product was pleasant enough. Teac512EB that is included in QPS 12x10x32 IDE KIT is a very reliable and pretty fast drive that supports Burn-Proof (rumors said that QPS also uses Plextor 12x10x32 IDE drives for this kit, but Teac has 4Mb buffer instead of 2Mb that Plextor has). I haven tested this drive for a long time, but my first impressions are pleasant. The drive burns at 12x speed and I was able to use the disks with a bunch of other drives...
Way Cool--if you follow the instructions and think a little.
I have a G4, running 9.04, and I have to say I read the reveiws and hoped I was not one of the folks that hit a problem. I did hit a couple. I only got one free piece of media, I got an extra envelope of software, and the pink CD with, I assume the drivers on it did not work. That is all the bad news. I read the booklet, looked at the exact version numbers I needed of drivers and software, and downloaded everything easily from the qps website. I put in a cd, and burnt a great back-up disk in a snap. I also tested the read capability and it works fine. I must say that I already had Toast 4.0 and I was required to update that software as well, but I did, and had no trouble.
