Customer Reviews of Power Stone Collection
He who is without judgement, cast the first Power Stone Let me just get this part out of the way: The main reason I bought a PSP just so happens to be this game. I used to rock out on the Dreamcast version of Power Stone 2 with all of my friends throughout or high school days (all the way up to the release of Super Smash Bros.). I was incredibly excited to not only play one of the coolest, most original melee games but to also get a crack at its elusive predecessor. Having now played through both versions, I have a few simple complaints. <

>Load times are a drag. On a system as advanced as the PSP, playing a game that was designed two console generations ago should not take that much load time. I have no idea why it does, and it makes me sit there blankly watching a non interesting loading screen. . . Anger rises. <

>The lack of extras on this port is also rather annoying. I was not looking for a new character or anything so drastic as a new stage(although those additions would have been hella nice). Instead, I thought some more new weapons, a different mode of play, or even higher level of difficulty could have been added. Oh well. <

>The game is still sweet, even if you need three other systems and games to do the old school multiplayer that made it so great on the Dreamcast, and is a must have for anyone who enjoys a beat up brawler.
Its Power Stone and its portable
if that doesn't say it all, I don't know what will.
Far better on dreamcast but still decent.
I've only played Powerstone 1 briefly and quickly decided it sucked compared to Powerstone 2 in every single way so moving along...

>Powerstone 2 is like Super Smash Brothers for those that ignored the Dreamcast. The main differences are that you are fighting in a 3-D arena and the combat is more simplistic so items become a little bit more valuable. There are far more items in Powerstone 2 and you actually have to create the majority of them to use which keeps you playing through the game. The game also presents some ridiculous AI on the higher settings. I have played this game possibly for hundreds of hours and at my prime was just barely able to beat the highest AI setting in adventure mode.

>What I feel is wrong with this version when compared to the Dreamcast version...

<
>-Load times, I know a real shocker there. I have yet to play a PSP game that didn't have some load time issues so it's kind of an expected flaw.

<
>-In powerstone 2 sometimes the view is simply too zoomed out making it difficult to see your character, what item your opponent has, or precisely where an object lies.
<

<
>-The movement just isn't quite right with the joystick nub on the PSP but again that's to be expected.

>I picked this game up for $9.99 at Meijer and really can't complain at that price. As mentioned before this is also a great alternative considering how difficult it is becoming to aquire the handful of good games from the Dreamcast, let alone in playable condition. The Dreamcast is quickly going the way of the Saturn in terms of rare, highly desirable games.
