P for paR NOTHING AGAINST THE PARTISANS,BUT AFTER ALL THESE YEARS:THEIR MUSIC STILL FAILS TO GET ME MOVING.NO PICK-ME-UP. THEY ALWAYS DID DELIVER STRONG LYRICS BUT THEIR RYTHEMS OF MUSIC I HONESTLY SAY BORED ME. THIS COMPILATION IS STILL GOOD AND COMPILES MANY OF THEIR MOST POPULAR HITS.
"Dixon you're gone for ever!!!..."
Abrasive, raw, and aggressive early 80s PUNK of the NO FUTURE generation. This is caustic, bitter, and furious, but honest in its ireful delivery. And it's the honesty that separates the real punk bands from the [other] ones, because what you hear is real teenage angst, outrage, and frustration. They were not rich bourgeois rock stars like Rancid or Rage Against the Machine are, instead they were real working class youths trapped in a bleak industrial wasteland with a faint future consisting of nuclear war looming in the horizon, manifestations of George Orwell's prophecies, and unemployment. This album is a must for lovers of British "anarchist punk" like Discharge and Varukers, but it is also popular among skins and lovers of "oi!" bands like Blitz. This contains some of their most popular songs like POLICE STORY, ARMS RACE (which is a different version from the one in the CARRY ON OI! compilation), and I NEVER NEEDED YOU. Thousands of punks and skins around the planet can tell you how important this band is... Oh, but I don't recommend it if you seek something that resembles mainstream rock (like the Sex Pistols or the Jam), this band was part of another generation of Punk, a later generation that played a faster, more aggressive, simplistic style that definitely has less pop appeal.
