Customer Reviews of Pleasure to Burn
While not as strong as the debut, still very good Systematic's debut was a thing of brilliance. The follow-up, Pleasure to Burn, is still very strong, though not as brilliant. It has some standout tracks on it. "Pleasure to Burn", "Shine", and "Change" are all great metal songs. "Leaving Only Scars" sounds kinda like an early 90s Alice In Chains type song, and "Infected" is very developed.
This album is strong, which is nice, proving that Systematic still are a great band. It is an indicator of potential greatness. If they just take one more step, they will break huge.
Very weak (compared to "Somewhere in Between")
Systematic's debut release "Somewhere in Between" was an excellent example of how a modern hard rock CD should sound -- lots of power, energy, and, most of all, plenty of ver catchy riffs / hooks. For me, unfortunately, "Pleasure to Burn" is a rather big disappointment, given how much I enjoyed their 1st album. Gone are the afore mentioned power & riffs, which have been replaced with average melodies and lethargic rhythms. There is no doubt that the band have changed their sound on "Pleasure to Burn", but any logical explanation for this change escapes me. You won't find anything like "Glassjaw", "Deep Colors Bleed", or "Bedsores" here; instead, you will get droners like "Not Like You" and the title track.
It pains me to say this, but you really should avoid this sub-par CD. If you want a really great sophomore release from a very good hard rock band, check out "Every Given Moment" by Stereomud. Or, if you are just looking for a good CD by Systematic, try "Somewhere in Between" instead of this.
Best Rock CD!!
These guys are the best band I've listened to ever! I've seen them in concert also and they rock the house! I recommend buying this cd along tih the first album "Somewhere in Between"
