Customer Reviews of Please Save My Earth:Moment's Memory
A 'smart' anime series that is a must get! Reincarnation is the central theme behind the anime series 'Please Save My Earth.' Based on a popular Japanese manga series of the same title by Saki Hiwatari, 'Please Save My Earth' is a love story between sixteen-year-old Alice and her rowdy neighbor, seven-year-old Rin. The differences between their ages set the stage for the complex events that take place during the course of the story.
Alice and Rin are two of seven reincarnates of alien scientists sent from their homeworld to study the Earth in every aspect - its natural history and the history of its inhabitants.
Without revealing too much of the plot - for it will be too complicated to explain in under 1000 words, this OAV series is considered by many to be one of the greatest shoujo anime series ever. The animation is top-notch - fluid, consistent with beautiful and expressive character designs. The music soundtrack is the mastermind of Hajime Mizoguchi, with subtle synthetics and chamber strings, creates an ethereal environment that compliments the series rather instinctively. Yoko Kanno, composer genius, composed the hauntingly beautiful ending theme of the series. No other pair of composers is recognized more than Mizoguchi and Kanno.
Even with the somewhat disappointing rushed ending of the series, 'Please Save My Earth' manages to transcend any cliche that plague many anime series. This anime series belongs on everyone's DVD collection. Don't hesitate to buy this DVD!
A wonderful collection
I've seeen a lot of anime, especially shoujo series so I was sort of running out of good titles to buy. Then I heard of this shoujo series. I've also read a lot of review on it. People either say it's really good or they really hate it. As for me I decided to give it a try and I loved it!!! I made me wanna cry. This storyline is truly original and deep. You're pretty much confused on the first 4 episodes but that's what makes it good. Just stick around and you'll understand the plot and feel the pain that the main characters are in. This is a seriously good anime, it's not your average school girl love story. I wish it was longer than a 6 episodes OAV. People say the ending sucks but I don't think so. It ended exactly when it should end and I think that's just a great ending. If you don't have this series then you gotta buy it. It's one of the few really good shoujo anime out there.
An Emotional Rollercoaster!
As a devout fan of PSME, I was disappointed to know that there were only six episodes. The series is far too complex to be consensed so much! But, nevertheless, I bought it and I loved it. I fell in love with the bratty Rin, the gender-confused Issei, the nitpicky Sakura (who resembles me in more ways than one), and even the hard-headed Jinpachi. Haruhiko/Shukaido was very well done! His heavy heart was transferred to screen seamlessly (for what the short series allowed). I laughed, I cried, I did that thing where you laugh and cry at the same time! I was touched very deeply. For any reader of shoujo manga (female-based/emotion-based comics) this is a MUST HAVE!
This is about the DVD version.
