Customer Reviews of Playtex Hip Hammock Standard Black/Black
Two years of use ... and counting My kids are close together and I love this thing. I bought this when our first was 8 mo. old and now our second is 18 mo. old (30+ lbs.) and I'm still using it! <

>- EASY to put on and take off. <
>- Fit my waist fully pregnant with second child (I was big!) and now back at my normal size 8. <
>- Saved my back and hips lots of strain. <
>- Great for shopping when the cart has lost it's luster. <
>- Comfortable for me and babies for times under an hour. <

>What else to expect: <
>- For longer times, it starts to weigh on your shoulder. Good for shopping or walking short distances, not meant for hiking.
Finally Found The Perfect Carrier!!
I read all sorts of online reviews, talked to friends, asked the members of my favorite parenting message board, and the Hip Hammock kept coming out on top. Make sure you get the newer version, which cups the shoulder instead of going around the wearer's neck.

>I, too, used a Baby Bjorn-type carrier when our son was a small infant (and loved it), but now that he's 16 months and 23 pounds, it simply doesn't work anymore. The Hip Hammock has been a great solution.

>My biggest concern was -- Is it easy to put on and take off when I'm alone? A resounding YES! I could use a lot of other slings and carriers out there, but it always required a second person to get it right. With the Hip Hammock, you just strap the carrier around your waist with the inside of the back support facing out. Then, lift your child onto your hip like you would normally carry him/her. Finally, pull the shoulder strap over your child and yourself, and pull the front strap to tighten the shoulder strap. To take it off, support your child while you loosen the front strap (easy with one hand), and pull it back over the two of you.

>We like to hike, but we've learned that trail maps and reviews don't always describe the trails well, and we found ourselves struggling to get our stroller up rocky, steep slopes. With the hip hammock, we're able to comfortably carry our son for long periods, and he feels snug and secure against our bodies while we hike. (Notice I say "we" and "our" because Daddy likes it too!)

>I keep the Hip Hammock in the car because I also use it for quick trips to the grocery store, into the second-hand baby store (where the aisles are narrow) and anywhere else we want to go and I don't want to drag out the stroller. We even use it for an afternoon walk around our neighborhood.

>Our son likes it too. When he isn't feeling well, he wants to be carried a lot, and the Hip Hammock lets me carry him while I'm doing dishes, laundry, etc. Like another reviewer, he often falls asleep in it too.

>The key clip and toy holders are added bonuses that make the Hip Hammock that much more functional.

>Definitely a good purchase. You won't regret it! Compared to MUCH pricier slings and carriers (can you believe what they charge for a square of cloth with four scarves on the corners?!?), this one is still superior.
Twins and flying
My husband and I purchased 2 of these to go on vacation with our 1 year old twins and 3 year old son. We were originally going to put the girls in individual umbrella strollers to go through the airport, but with three kids it was then, one more thing to carry when it was time to board the plane. I first purchased one to try it out and wore it everyday for 6 weeks and did not experience any pain and my girls loved it. The only complaint that I have is that the staps need a little more adjustment, I am an average person and they didn't go quite small enough for me, and my daughters are tall and thin, but they seem to feel secure!! Great product for the money!!
