Customer Reviews of Play
No Point In Being Long Might be my favorite album of all time... so much so that I went out to hunt for the original pressing that had Southside w/o Gwen. Finally got it. The album is amazing.
An Instant Classic
There is a lot of good electronica out right now. The Chemical Brothers "Push the Button" and mr.deviant's "Techno Obsession" immediately come to mind. However, one of the best electronica CDs you can buy right now was released in mid 1999 and is still relevant. Moby's "Play" is as close to perfect as any artist can get musically. Every artist dreams of their own "Srgt. Pepper" and "Play" is Moby's. First off, if you think you haven't heard anything from this CD, think again. "Play" holds a record for having some of the most licensed music for film, tv and commercials. When you hit the play button on your cd player, you'll understand why. "Play" is loaded with simply good music. A unique blend of blues, techno, soul, new age, hip-hop and electronica make up the CD which is just as diverse and unique as Moby's recording career.

>For anyone that ever thought or said that electronica or music compossed on a computer using samplers, sequencers and midi keyboards could never have soul or passion, only need to here "Play" to be proven wrong. This album has more heart and feeling in it than a lot of folk and "alternative" music that claims to own the patent to emotional and passionate music. For example, when you hear a track like "Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad?", you can't help but identify with what Moby is trying to express to the listener. We've all experienced heartache, sadness, joy and love, and Moby illustrates all of these feelings and emotions to us thru the powerful music contained on this CD.

>I could go into detail about each track, but trust me, just buy this one and hit the play button. I haven't met anyone that didn't find something that they liked on this CD. A must own for music fans! "Play" is an instant classic.
The Best Album of the 90s
I picked up this album after hearing the song "Natural Blues" on the radio. For some reason, I set it aside, but I have just recently come back to it, and have found out just how amazing this album is. From start to finish, there is a variety of musical genres that allow any listener to be entertained. While I prefer the soft instrumental songs like "Guitar Flute and String," "Everloving," and "My Weakness," other tracks, such as "Porcelain" and "Natural Blues" stand out as masterpieces. These five songs alone are reason enough for anybody to buy this album, but it doesn't end there. The only song I don't like from this album is "Machete", which seems to be too high-tempo for the rest of the album. Other standout songs for me include "Inside," "Run On," and "The Sky is Broken." Every song on this album (save perhaps Machete) is revolutionary in that it defies classification into one genre. This is an album that everybody can enjoy.

>I give this album 5 stars because I can listen to it no matter what kind of music I feel like hearing, and because there is only one song that I really ever skip. Belongs in every collection!
