Customer Reviews of Philips HS405 Lightweight In-Ear Headphones
confortable fit and adequate sound I bought these in-ear headphones to replace the underwhelming ear pods that came with my RCA Lyra. The philips are comfortable to take on and off, and can be worn with the head piece at different levels on your head. While the bass is nothing spectacular, it does the job for my needs and the treble is not the tinfoil variety I got from some ear buds I've tried. Well worth the price I paid.
Ugh...
I bought a pair of these at a store; the giant words "Turbo Bass" caught my eyes. Let me tell you, these have got to be the biggest disappointment I've ever had in a pair of headphones. For one thing, the Bass is almost non-existant, despite what the box leads you to believe. After some tweaking, I managed to get some bass pumping through, however what I got was a horrible rattle that sounded like 10,000 volts being pumped through tin foil underwater. When flat, the highs are mediocre, lows almost inaudable, with the mids overpowering the rest of the soundrange. The design itself is also atrocious; probably the most uncomfortable headphones I've ever worn; my ears go sore after thirty minutes. For the money, I suggest you go with the

>Updated: After approx. 24 hours of trying to break-in these headphones by pumping practically nothing but hardcore bass music through them, it seems I've managed to loosen up the drivers a bit and get the lows to sound a bit smoother (although the right ear driver still rattles horribly when I put these phones at 75-100% volume). Also, I still have to EQ tweak to get some bass through. Therefore, CD, iPod, mp3 player users are still out of luck unless their player has a good EQ built-in (the so-called EQ settings in an iPod don't work well enough to get some bass going with these headphones).
great fit, great looks, awesome performance
These are the most light weight head phones I have ever owned. The sound quality is superb for such a small configuration.
