Customer Reviews of Pfaltzgraff Yorktowne 20-Piece Dinnerware Set, Service for 4
Beautiful, Durable - Simply the best dinnerware ever! I loved the look of this pattern and requested it rather than the classic china for my wedding registry 8 years ago. I wanted something that could be used every day rather rhan stored most of the year and these dishes have been wonderful!! I have the standard dinnerware pieces here plus many additional serving and accent pieces. Through 8 years, 5 cross country moves, 3 rambunctious children and daily use (with three small children and a busy household that eats almost all of our meals together as a family - this is vigorous use) of most pieces I have had only one broken salad plate and one cracked cereal bowl. I get many complements whenever we serve guests and love that it is versatile enough to go from holiday meals to toddler snacks with ease. I have never regretted the choice and would replace it with the exact same in a heartbeat if the need arose. As for the reviewer that said the plates are small -- I think that he must either be from the land of giants or got mixed up in what he was reviewing -- the dinner plates are large enough to hold even the most "over the top" thanksgiving dinner with no complaints. If you like the pattern you will definately not be disapointed in this set. The only thing Ido not like is that the coffee cups and saucers are a bit small and formal for our lifestyle -- by adding some of the larger mugs available seperately that is easily remedied. I do get out the cups and saucers when we have guests but for the most part we use the larger mugs for our coffee, cocoa etc. <

surpassed expectation
When we first saw this set online, we instantly liked it. Now that we have it at home, we love it. The design is simple and the background color is an elegant mottled white and beige. The dinner plates are the right size for our dishwasher, which is one of the reasons we were looking to replace our current set.

>The Pfaltzgraff name assured us a quality product and they delivered.
A Classic
I'm no spring chicken and these dishes have been in my family as long as I can remember. When I was young, I think I probably believed this was our family crest!

>The pattern is classic and inspired by colonial techniques. It's the perfect pattern for those whose taste in decor runs toward Early American and/or Colonial/ Eastern Seaboard. The dutch blue is easily matched in stemware and in kitchen decor.

>Pfaltzgraff isn't going to change this anytime in the near future, and frankly, they could discontinue it tomorrow and you would be fine. There are so many pieces of this out there that, if you like the pattern, it's a great choice in terms of supply yet you aren't going to see this in every other home. I run into it about every dozen years or more. Odd considering the sales of this pattern, but who's complaining?

>Over the years, Pfaltzgraff has added some super cute pieces in limited amounts, and it's fun to pick one up here and there to add to the collection.

>We found a lamp we thought looked amazingly similar in appearance. Turned out to have been made from an antique jug made in 1810!

>This just further supports the authenticity of Yorktowne's appearance. Maybe that's why one reviewer didn't like their size. People of that era didn't sit in front of troughs, they ate off of plates.

>The dishes don't chip particularly easily, and never have I seen one discolor or form web-like cracks. I assume they are dishwasher safe; I never stopped to look! They did just great.
