Customer Reviews of Peapod Portable Travel Bed
I recommend it, but read the reviews first I have used this bed extensively and have recommended it to others who have purchased and enjoy this item. But read the reviews to see if it is a match for you. FOLDING-no problem, but if you have trouble folding sunshades for your car, don't buy this bed. PORTABILITY-small, lightweight, easy to set up, and easy to move out of the way (I put it on top of my bed during the day-try doing that with a play yard!) MATTRESS PAD-bunches up. I'm not a fan of velcro, but if you are, add some. I think I'd like to see loops and snaps, like my play yard has. AIR PUMP-not so good. But the mattress is small and easy to inflate by mouth. RED VERSION-wasn't available when I bought this one. It has extra framework to prevent the head and foot from "caving in" as mine (and all the tents we've used for any length of time) has.
SUFFOCATION HAZARD!!
I loved the concept of this bed. We bought this for our 6 month old daughter. The first thing she did was to roll around to free the loose padding and pulled it over her face. Had I not been watching her she could have suffocated. I contacted the manufacturer and their response was "you don't have to use the pad." So, if my daughter has an accident it becomes uncleanable. There really should be a way to keep the pad in place! Secondly, the elastic on the inside of the bed used to secure the rolled down window is also a safety hazard. My daughter managed to get her little fingers caught in the elastic. Again, Kidco's response " our product meets very high safety standards." I'd like to know who's safety standards and exactly what they tested! Stick with the pack 'n play.... you'll sleep better knowing you're child is not at risk!
Not as good as I thought
I was very excited at the concept of this product. I anxiously awaited the delivery (from Target), and it arrived and I opened it up. We set it up completely and inspected it and then put it away again for use that weekend at my in-law's house. We used it just fine (our daughter was a few months old at the time), and then it came time to fold it up again. It WOULD NOT fold back down like it was supposed to. My husband messed with it for over an hour and still couldn't get it. By the time he was done trying to fold it up, the bed itself was no longer the shape it was to begin with and not only could we not get it folded up - we couldn't use it anymore!

>This all happened within the first week of having the item, so I called the company. They were less than helpful and told me to take the item to Target. I couldn't find the receipt anymore, so i coudln't do that. So I called Kidco again, and they gave me some "troubleshooting" tips to get it back into shape, which did not work (and I had already tried hundreds of time).

>As I was tired of dealing with the company and didn't want to waste more hours of my time, the item, after having been used ONCE, went into our dumpster never to be seen again. A waste of $50.00. Stick with your Pack 'N Play - you and your child will be much happier!
