Customer Reviews of Panasonic CT-27SL14 27" Flat Screen TV
Never buy a TV from Amazon If I could I would give this set no stars. We needed to get a TV delivered to our house due to the fact that we both own sedans. None of the big box stores would deliver in this size so we tried amazon. The TV arrived via frieght eagle on a pallet they brought it inside and offered to take the box. I said better leave it incase we need to return it little did I know. So I unpacked the TV and it looked fine. Once I plugged it in the sound works but no picture at all. I tried on all inputs and nothing the tube stayed black. <

>Then the customer service nightmare began. Amazon is clearly the worst in the industry. We sent an email it was not returned until 48 hrs later. We called the hard to find 800 # (search google) and they that the set was unreturnable and we would have to hope for the best with panasonic. The phone person was rude and suggested that it was our fault that we did not let the untrained shippers install the TV. They also suggested that we must be unable to read despite the fact that we purchased the set online. We hope you read this and never order a TV from Amazon.
You can do better for about the same price.
I bought this TV a few months ago and while it isn't a horrible set I think I could have got a better one for a little bit more money.

>The picture is sharp and clear and the visibility from the side is fine, but it seems to be a bit dark to me. I have the brightness turned all the way up and it is still very hard to make out some dark scenes in TV shows, movies, and video games. Also it seems to take an unusual amount of time to start up when you turn it on and change channels while surfing.. nothing major though.

>I don't have any problems with the sound. It gets a bit dead sounding when the volume is turned way up, but I hardly ever have to raise it above 10 on the volume bar (it goes up to 63)- so unless you really like to crank you TV you probably won't notice it.

>I would plan on buying a better remote, I can't stand the one Panosonic includes with it.. it is very cheesey feeling and I can't stand the circle they use for the channel and volume controls.

>Overall I don't regret buying it, but I do think I could have done better.
Excellent picture, so-so audio
I just spent several weeks look at inexpensive analog sets. I had a low budget, but I wanted the best audio and picture I could get for my money.

>I ultimately went with the Panasonic 20" because it had both good audio and video. However, I did look at many bigger TVs, this one in particular. This model, in this price range, has a far superior image quality. At the store I visited this model just stood out from the rest. Indeed, the clerks confirmed this and said that it was the best "cheap" 27" TV they sold. The big drawback is the audio. I turned this set up to about 1/3 to 1/2 volume and it was noticeably bad.

>There is a workaround for this problem - hook your stereo up to the TV. Voila, inexpensive analog TV, great image. I decided to go with the 20" just because I had limited space and couldn't have both my stereo and the TV in the same spot.

>TV buyers should definitely pay attention to various reviews on reliability by general buyers and Consumer Reports. Panasonic has a very high reliabilibility. Many TVs, especially those by Samsung, RCA, GE and others. Even Sony ranks as a little bit less than Panasonic. Other brands have better reputations - Sanyo if you can believe it, perhaps even Toshiba - but I just couldn't find any of their models that suited my needs and price range.
