Could get it to work! I received this product, installed it and it wouldn't open. I spoke with customer support no less than 5 times and received about 10 emails from them explaining what to do to fix the problem. I spent about 10 hours over a weeks time trying to correct the problem to no avail. In the end customer support admitted they couldn't fix it and told me to return it for a refund. I've since ordered Nova's Business Plan Writer and it works great!
For Beginners Only
This is unsophisticated software that even Microsoft wouldn't put its name on, which I probably should have known from the price. I purchased the so-called 'Premier' edition only to be able to create a linked balance sheet from financial forecasts I had already created in Excel. My biggest gripe, and the real disservice this software does to anyone tryng to raise money, is not allow you to spread your cost of goods sold or direct unit costs over multiple months. Instead the software will only calculate unit costs in the same month in which you have a sale. And you cannot change or modify this programming (and tech support has no solution). So if you, like me and millions of other people, make a product that takes more than one month to produce (in my case three) before a sale, Business Plan Pro does not allow you to account for the months that you are spending money to make your product before you can book a sale - even though you are burning cash during this time. The result is a distorted cash flow forecast and balance sheet - which are the two most important forecasts for investors. Basically, there is considerably more compexity and expense of starting a business than Business Plan Pro Premier allows you to express.

>I suppose this is fine for very small businesses like gas stations or a stationary store, but if you're starting a venture and want to build an enterprise, stick with Excel. It will take more time to set up your own formulas, but it is completely flexible and cusomizable to your particular business.

>Overall, it is nice to have all the financial data linked together and not have to create it separately, but the software should be more customizable, enable the user to represent 'real world', rather than formulaic, scenarios, enable you to link an Excel spreadsheet directly to other tables, and make it easier to navigate between tables. And you should be able to get rid of the annoying 'next task'/'previous task' bar at the bottom that takes up two inches of screen. But I guess that's a lot to ask for $180.

I found this program very intuitive, which is unusual considering complexity of it's functionality. I have written two business plans through the SBA training programs at our local university, and Business Plan Pro Premier Pro 2007 has it all and then some! You can sign up for free online Webcast classes that are very complete and indepth. You are in a virtual classroom online and via phone, so you can hear others' and ask your own questions in real time! I even got the slide presentation material e-mailed to me for future reference. This is the most complete business planning tool I have ever tried... and I've tried a couple.
