While this isn't an exact translation of the original arcade game, it's still a lot of fun to play. Your job remains the same: guide Pac-Man around a maze, gathering pellets and avoiding ghosts. When the level is cleared you just do the same thing all over again, only faster. We were disappointed that the playing field never changes, but Namco can be forgiven since they also threw the bonus game Pac-Attack on the cartridge. It's an addictive little Tetris-like game that also has a challenging puzzle mode, and it serves as a nice break when maze-running gets a little stale. --T. Byrl Baker
Pros:
- Classic arcade gameplay
- Bonus Pac-Attack game is fairly fun
- Maze doesn't change

Customer Reviews of Pac-Man - Special Color Edition
Good game - not a good system for it Pac-Man. No one can deny that this game is one of the greatest video games of all time, perhaps due to the fact that it is so involving and addictive, yet extremely easy to learn. Needless to say the game has been ported to a plethora of home consoles. One of the first was this version for the original Game Boy. Read on for my review of the game.
THE GOOD:
-Finally, a portable version of the game!
-With the exception of the graphics, the game is an exact reproduction of the arcade original.
-The two-player mode is nice.
-There's a bonus game - the Pac-Mania puzzle game!
THE BAD:
-You have two choices of how to play the game. You can play a zoomed-in mode, where everything is more detailed but you see less of the screen, or you can play a full-screen mode like the arcade classic, but the detail is pitiful. THIS is why Pac-Man fails as a portable game.
OVERALL:
-Get a consular version of the game instead. As good an idea as making Pac-Man portable may have sounded, it's just not possible to pull it off well.
BEST ARCADE GAME EVER...
THIS IS THE BEST ARCADE GAME EVER. IT IS SOOO FUN. I COULND STOP PLAYING IT. I THINK EVERBODY SHOULD HAVE A COPY OF AT LEAST ONE OF PAC MANS GAMES....GET THIS GAME
Difficult on the Game Boy
I have always played Pac Man with two hands. One hand for movements to the right, and the other hand for movements to the left. Either hand for up or down.
On the Game Boy, you can only navigate with one hand (the thumb) in all directions. It is very difficult, especially for players who are used to the arcade, joystick, or even computer version. Like a person above stated, I miss a lot of moves because of this. I'm getting better though.
