Customer Reviews of PS2 Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2006
Tiger Woods, ...what happened? The worst game ever I would like to start by saying that I have all of the Tiger Woods golf games that exist for the PS2. However, I would like to give this one back. I really have no idea why EA felt they needed to completely overhaul the game. Tiger Woods 05 was outstanding! It could have used a few extras like more customization of the create a course option. Something like adding your own waterways, sand traps, etc. instead of just picking existing holes from the courses that already exist. Anyway, the new putting feature is the worst!!! It isn't just because it is more difficult. It is no longer any fun. Being challenging is one thing, but being absolutely ridiculous is another. Why not leave the old putting option and let the gamer choose between the two in the game settings? The bottom line is that all of the Tiger Woods golf games have been outstanding up until this point. However, this is the last one I will ever purchase unless changes are made. Bring back the old putting options. And for those of you who want the game more realistic than fun, stick with the real game of golf and leave the electronic version of it to those of us who enjoy a fun and entertaining game. Not one so difficult that it never gets played.
One of the Worst
I have played many golf games over the past years, and I can say with confidence that Tiger Woods 2006 is the worst, and most frustrating, that I have played to date.

>Note to Tiger Woods game designers: This game is horrible and tedious. I woul drather have 100 courses than time wasted on new mechanics!

<
>Note to gamers: This golf game takes all the pains of RPG level grinding (Everquest, et al) and places them into a golf game. Now, you must grind out over a hundred hours of play (literally - no kidding) before you can ever drive the ball to the fairway with decent regularity. I played for 15 hours, and got my power skill up to 3 squares, and couldn't drive the ball to most fairways. I felt like I wasted my time.

>Putting is OK, but iron play is horrible unless you have put in the level grind. Don't bother using irons from the rough. 80-100 yards max.

>I was hitting 90-100 on most courses playing my heart out. Another annoying feature is that when you play crappy in the first round of a tournament, the others players get dramatically worse in the second round. If the leader shot a 64 in round 1, and you shot a 94, the leaders will shoot in the 90's in round 2. This feature is really silly and unrealistic.
First time player
I had heard great things about the Tiger games and got this one for my birthday. I have to say it's tough at first, but the more you play, the better you get, and the more addictive it becomes. I'm still just in the rivals mode at this point, and find myself getting at least one game in a night. I highly recommend.
