Absolutely Superb
After much deliberation about which mobile monitor to get, I decided on the Sony. Reviews for other products I checked were about on par with those for this unit, but I figured the "non 3rd party" product was probably the best. For once, I was right. The picture is amazing, with even the slightest detail distinguishable (including RPG text). I'm not big on video game sound overall (through TV either), but when I have the volume on here, it's impressive. The one fear I had was that it wouldn't be able to be connected to DVD / VCR / etc, due to the lack of an RCA connection on the screen. Luckily, that fear was allayed after a 5 minute trip to RadioShack and $7.99 for the RCA--1/8" connector. I hooked it up to the DVD, VCR and cable box, and was quite pleased with the result. I've come to terms with the fact that I can't afford picture-in-pucture yet, but by hooking the LCD up to my cable box, "picture-on top of-picture" works for me. I know it's only supposed to be for use with the PSone, and it's great for playing games when there's something better on TV, but the other potential uses are great as well.

Sony's LCD Screen is the one to own......Finally !
After much anticipation, I finally got my Sony LCD screen for PS1. This is abslolutely the best TFT screen available. Not only is it 5" diagonal, but the resolution is much better than even the Interact 5" model that was recently re-designed. Plus, you have the added peace of mind knowing this is an OEM product that cosmetically looks perfect when matched up with your PS1. Even with the Interact 5" screen, text from RPG's were sometimes difficult to read. Not so with this model. I tested out Final Fantasy VII and Alundra (known for it's small text size) , and I didn't have a problem. Gran Turismo 2 looks awesome! Also, there is NO evidence of some of the shielding problems associated with competitor's products. I put my setup right next to my PC monitor at work and there was NO interference. This thing is so light and thin, you'll think they forgot to package it when you pick up the box. I checked out the screen with a magnifying glass, not one dead pixel. The only thing you should be careful of is this screen comes with it's own AC adapter that is identical looking, but not the same model # as your PS1 adapter. The instructions state that to use the LCD screen, you MUST use the adapter that comes with the screen as using the original PS1 adapter might damage it. I probably would have made the adapter a different color as they are practically indistinguishable from each other.

Anyway, do yourself a favor and pick up one of these, you won't be disappointed with your purchase. Or if you don't have a PS1 yet, wait a couple of weeks until the PS1 / LCD screen combo arrives for 199.99.
