Bloated, inefficient, slow as molasses, but it works as advertised. Yes, the product works for its intended purpose: it removes spyware. However, the behavior of the product makes it just as bad as spyware. It's a resource hog. Everytime the computer boots, S.D. requires a few minutes to initialize. As if that defect weren't enough to prohibit your purchase, Spyware Doctor can't update itself automatically. Most modern anti-spyware products, such as Ad-Aware (a free program) are able to update themselves automatically. S.D. stands alone in this peculiar shortcoming. A manual process, requiring user intervention, and a substantial delay which will have the user staring at a screen, is required in order to update. <

Long time user
I've been using this program for years now and I'm surprised there is so much negative input about it! It's been one of the best cleaners I found. If you have a fast computer like at least an AMD 2000 with 1 gig ram and a fast hard drive there is no problem but I installed the free Google Pack version on my old laptop, XP PentIII 650MHZ with 256 megs ram and forget it! I had to disable the auto features and just use the manual controls. It had a memory usage of 142 megs of ram! So just disable the all the time active guard and the system will be back to normal. I don't think I would purchase this product until the bugs are worked out!
Very bad product
After I installed this, the computer freezes on startup and I couldn't even shut down properly. The CPU utilisation shows 100% all the time.I finally removed the Spyware Doctor from the system, and now the computer is back to normal.I am very disappointed with this product.Not sure if its because I also have a Norton Antivirus on my system.If anyone has found the solution, appreciate if they can share
