Very useful device. The Kill-A-Watt device is a very useful and inexpensive instrument. I was most impressed with the instruments ability to indicate the power factor for inductive and capacitive loads. This is a feature most often found in relatively very expensive power meters. My own testing indicates that the instrument is very accurate; even when monitoring very reactive loads (p.f.< 0.3). The device is well worth the money. The only downside I've found, is that the Kw-hr integrator, along with the internal timer, does reset to zero if the power goes out for just a few seconds or more (there is no internal battery); resulting in a loss of data.
SO EASY TO USE, Informative Display
Well I certainly justified the back-breaking task of reaching down under the desk to shut my computer's power strip off when I am through computing. Between the modem supply, monitor, CPU, and printer, I was burning over 40 Watts in "OFF" mode. "OFF" my eye! What a crock. I then could estimate which of my appliances were the most offensive to my power bill. A fun toy to play with. Originally purchased for sizing a generator, I use it to eliminate waste.

This device lets you see a lot of things. I use it to see how much wattage things pull. You can also leave it plugged in to see what you are using over time.

>The best part is you can see how much electricity things waste when they are "off". Unplugging some of my stereo equipment, and turning off computer accessories I did not use, saved me $4-5 a month. Now that isn't that big of a deal, but if everyone did this, and over time, it easily pays for itself.
