not as sturdy as the old one I just purchased this (after returning a cuisinart after realizing that it had a plastic driver). My old Oster blender (plastic, 10-speed) lasted over 12 years (not under heavy use), so I bought another one. I like the base and it won't get discolored over time like my old white one did. The buttons are clearly labeled and feel solid. Each button has two speeds depeding on if the switch is set at low or high. <

>The jar is flimsier than my old one. It also has this annoying collar piece that is supposed to add stability if your jar is just sitting around on the table for a while - seems unnecessary to me. It makes it harder to take apart for cleaning and it is a very thin piece of plastic that I doubt will last well. <
