Customer Reviews of Osh Kosh Tote Second Nature
Looked good, ended up being too bulky. This review does not critique the quality of the bag. I found the quality acceptable despite my dissatisfaction with the insulated pockets. This review is instead directed at the practicality of owning such a large shoulder bag. My husband and I selected this bag for our registry before our now 6 month old son was born. We received it as a present and it was great at first- when we still wanted to carry the kitchen sink with us in those hazy, sleepless first few weeks. Within 2 months I had a new bag because this one is too awkward and uncomfortable to carry when full. The strap really pulls on your shoulder and it is too short to wear across your body. 2 weeks after I ordered a new bag, my husband was using an old small camera bag as his diaper bag. This one ended up in the trunk filled with emergency supplies in case we forgot to bring something (like diapers or a clean tee shirt). Then I put the emergency stash in a small rubbermaid container and this ended up in the shed until last week when I gave it to a pregnant friend. Unless you want a steamer trunk, avoid large bags. If you do want a large bag I encourage you to look at a messenger style or backpack style bag- it will distribute the weight a lot better than the nylon webbing strap on this one.
Satisfied
This bag was actually my second choice for a diaper bag. I originally chose one that looked more like a purse, but I'm glad I changed my mind.
Unlike some of the others, I have not had any problems with my bag falling apart. The insulation pockets have worked great, and they are quite ample- I can fit 2 8 oz bottles in there, and I also add a bag of Blue Ice to keep things super cold. I recently put a bag of Blue Ice in with a bag of frozen breast milk, then I went on a 5 hour car ride. At the end of the ride, the bag was still frozen, so the pockets definitely work well.
The outer velcro pocket contains a somewhat small but very useful plastic diaper changing pad. My son is 2 months old, and he doesn't fit on it quite as well as he used to, but it does its job. The inside is quite large- I usually keep at least 8 diapers, one outfit and a burping cloth in there, and I still have room left over.
I definitely recommend this product!
Great for all day packing
I had to return to work for 10 weeks after my leave to finish out the school year as a teacher. My son went to a sitter near my school. This bag was perfect! It had room to pack everything he needed for the whole day, and I did go a little overboard. There are little compartments for lotion, Tylenol, diaper cream, etc. I put a few diapers in the front pocket with his wipes. (The rest were stored at her house.) All the bottles went in the two insulated side compartments. (After the 10 weeks, the insulations was coming apart, though.) The big center part is where all the clothes and blankets wents. I did have a smaller bag for shorter trips, but it would have never worked at the sitter. I also used it when we went on a road trip for a week. I put all the extras that wouldn't fit in the little bag in it. A plain bag would work, but wouldn't be as organized. Things were so easy to find.
