Customer Reviews of Oregon Scientific RM983A Radio Controlled Alarm Clock with Thermometer
I liked mine! Like others, I found the instructions hard to decipher. Operation of the controls was problematic when I tried to follow the instructions, but not too bad when I investigated them without reference to the instructions. <

>I particularly wanted a weekdays (Monday through Friday) alarm, and this is what drove this purchase. It's surprisingly hard to find. How many of us get up everyday at the same time? <
> <
>I've had none of the problems referenced by others about the alarm itself. Mine works just as advertised. <

>Aside from the instructions, my only significant complaint is the unit's weight. It's very light and gives the impression of flimsiness. A bit of lead or a larger battery would solve this problem. Also, as another reviewer mentioned, an AC adapter would be nice.
Time Zone Madness
This clock, like all other OS clocks, does not give you the ability to say whether or not you want daylight-savings-time. If you live in Arizona, you will have to set the time zone to Pacific for the summer months and then back to Mountain for the winter! THIS IS A MAJOR PAIN TWICE A YEAR. My radio controlled clocks from SkyScan have an option for daylight-savings-time. Why can't OS do this?
Other than that, I love the auto-set feature AND the fact that it has the CORRECT TIME!
If you live in a time-zone that switches to daylight-savings-time, you will love these clocks.
Okay......
Good points: Compact, looks nice, time set itself within an hour even though cellphones, pagers, palm pilots work erratically here. Less than good points: Instructions incomprehensible, alarm barely audible (to a hard-of-hearing person). Worth it for the auto-time and accurate temperature display.
