Customer Reviews of Open Top Swin G Jack & Jill
An instant "must have" for baby! I'm on baby number four and have every baby gadget known to man, so I'm not easily convinced to buy a new baby product, nor am I that easily impressed. This swing did it, though. First of all, the concept of a portable swing is a great one (I remember having to lug the full size one to the beach for a week of vacation with a newborn). But what is really amazing is how well Fisher Price combined portability with a really great swing. Although the entire thing is not much bigger than a bouncy seat, the swing itself (the part the baby sits in) is almost as large as the standard open top swings. The swing has five speeds, and again is comparable to the full size swings in the motor's strength and ability. Other pluses: handles which allow you to move the swing from room to room, even with baby in it; folds flat for storage and transporting; seat cushion is nicely made, soft and well-padded, and curves around somewhat to provide head support; can be used with babies up to 20-25 lbs (whereas the deluxe take along swing is only 15-17 lbs). But the final test: what does baby think of it? Well, she's blissfully asleep in it right now. Although not full size, the swing does not seem to have any problems handling the weight of a baby in it. Another note, the motor is pretty quiet, but the noise it does make is kind of a soothing, "white noise." All in all, I would say a great investment- good, useful, well-made product for a very fair price. (And the green pattern is just too cute.)
The perfect swing for the lowest price!
We bought this for our son a few weeks after he was born, after discovering that he loved to be rocked. Knowing we couldn't always rock and hold him, we found this swing to help us out. It's perfect because it's portable and not bulky. Plus, it has an open top, making it easier to put baby in and take baby out. It was super easy to put together and it makes no noise. It really works to help soothe our son and he likes it. It's five speeds are great, but the heavier the child, the faster the speed you'll need to put it on to get it to move. My only two small complaints, (obviously small enough to still give this product 5 stars) are that 1: it requires D batteries that die pretty quickly, and 2: it doesn't support baby's head very well. It needs one of those head supporters you see in carseats. But the easiest way to fix that problem is rolling up a burp rag or blanket and putting it on each side of baby so his head will be supported. I would recommend this swing to everyone.
Great Deal
This swing is a wonderful deal for the money. It's hard for me to review this item objectionally, though, because my son didn't like swings or bouncers when he was a newborn. There's no way to tell what a baby will like and dislike, and I'm glad that I hadn't spent too much on a swing. It's very compact, too, so it hasn't taken up much storage space (I'm saving it in hopes that my second child will use it). So I'm giving it five stars because it didn't empty my wallet or fill up my closet. Babies don't need all those extra attached toy bars, music, lights and other gizmos on a swing, they just want to swing quietly until they fall asleep. If you can find this swing or one like it, I would buy it first until you find out whether or not your baby likes swings and then you can get one of the super-deluxe swings. You won't feel bad about purchasing this swing.
