Customer Reviews of Open Top 6 Speed Swing - Macarthur
Very Pleased Now that my little guy is 8 months old, and almost ready to retire the swing, I feel I can accurately rate this swing. I am very pleased overall with this product. The music selections are very nice, the speed options are just right, and I didn't find the swing to be loud. It has a moderately soft, rythmic clicking sound, which I think actually sooths my son into a little snooze better than the music! The seat adjusts so that a newborn reclines more, and an older baby can "sit up". My son was in this swing since he was 2 weeks old, and we never had a problem with him slumping over. I like the open top design, and I feel it is a good product for the money.
A few little things I do not care for:
1. the lowest volume setting on the music is a little too soft....especially for people like me who have a very mild hearing problem. There have been times I've drained the batteries because I left the music playing..expecially if a dishwasher or television creates enough background noise. If you have excellent hearing, or use this in a quiet room, this may not be a problem for you.
2. The seat belt latch gets stuck (and has gotten stuck from the first week we used it) so on occasion it's been difficult getting it unlatched while a very fussy baby gets fussier by the second! I found that I have to make sure the latches are pushed in all the way and try a few times before they come loose. The left side seems to stick more than the right.
3. The tray latches into the seat, and sometimes the tray latch doesn't always line up to the seat latch. This causes it to not close correctly, so one minute my son is swinging away, and the next minute the tray pops up and my son is pushing it open. I have to remind myself to double check that it's closed correctly (something I should do anyway, regardless if there are problems or not:o) Because of this, he's never out of sight while swinging.
4. The weight capacity is 25 pounds, but my son who is now nearly 19 pounds, is heavy enough that the speed even at the highest setting will slow to a crawl because of his weight. I have a feeling that by the time he's 20+ pounds, it will hardly work, even with fresh new batteries. I think the manufacturer is pushing it with 25 pounds, but we'll see. I'll use it to the bitter end and save it for our next child!!
Overall, I would highly recommend this swing as I'm sure the few gripes I have can be found in most other brands. My son is swinging happily in it now, "talking" to the lion and batting at the toy with the beads. He's having a great time right now...I guess that's good enough for me!!
A great swing
My sister-in-law bought a Fisher Price swing for her son thinking my daughter's Graco was too noisy. She got a nasty shock when she heard how loud the FP swing was and took it back to get a Graco. Yes, there is a rhythmic "click" but it is minimal and easy to ignore. The sound seems to soothe our daughter better than the music does, she falls asleep in her swing all the time. She is 4 months old and it still works wonderfully, no problems with the motor burning up or anything of the sort. Now that she is old enough we have placed the toys on the tray and she loves to bat at them and look at her reflection in the mirror. This is a wonderful swing, made even better by the fact that it is an open top so no hunching over trying to get baby in or out under a canopy, mobile or motor.
Baby likes it!
My baby really seems to like this swing. She often falls asleep in it so I will then lay back the sit for her. Otherwise, it will entertain her for about 45 minutes till she wants to move on to something else - that's pretty good in my opinion.
