Customer Reviews of Once Upon a Potty Gift Bundle – Boy
Bought this as a gift I recently bought this as a gift, though I wish I had one for my kids! I love the fact the the potty is all one piece with no nooks and crannies for pee or dirt to collect. I had that problem with my first child's potty, no matter how much I cleaned it! It ended up becoming so nasty, I threw it out! I use a similar one-piece potty for my second child that was given to me, but I love the Once Upon a Potty one because my son LOVES Joshua (we have the book). I think I'm going to get him just the doll with its own potty! Anyway, I highly recommend this product!
"Mommy, read Joshua book!"
I can't speak to the quality of the potty seat included, as we received the book, doll, and doll potty as gifts. My son just loves this book, on or off the potty (mostly on). And little Joshua sits beside him on his potty every time. It's a little long, but very engaging, and that means I can keep my son seated on the potty a while -- a plus! He loves the section where Joshua considers what the new potty is. When I read "Was it a milk bowl for the cat?" and all of the other possible questions, my son gleefully shouts "No!" and waits for the next. Having the doll has given my son real tangible reinforcement, as he often wants to "have" the things he reads in books, so Joshua is very real to him, and we take advantage of that by talking to him about what Joshua is doing (or should be doing!) or thinking or feeling during potty training--e.g. "Now when Joshua feels like he has to go tinkle, he tells his Mommy or Daddy, just like you're going to tell Mommy or Daddy when you have to go, right?" We just love the Joshua doll and book and they've been a real boost to our potty-training efforts.
