Customer Reviews of On the Night
One of they best live concerts, and the last one. On this album there is much of very terrific songs, like "Money For Nothing", "Walk Of Life" "Private Investigations", "Calling Elvis", and many more. They once again played a perfect live concert, must be the best in the 90's. The very good songs, whith the brilliant lyrics, and instruments, especially M.K's guitarplaying, and all of others too, doing a perfect teamwork. They are best at this things. So nothings wrong at this. I like the satellites too, on the frontpicture, look like a big communique to the world or something. I must say that M.K's clothes is very good, other groups look like maniacs, some of them. But not D.S, thats for sure. A great tour made of them, while many other bad music was more on the charts, on MTV, and begin to be more popular, which is too bad, but i understand it. Dire straits retired, well, in -93. Now the world is whitout the best rockband, and i notice that every day, when i look at musicchannels, often radio..etc. D.S is too good for this charts .....in today... Well they have made a terrific carreer, and it was not a so bad idea to retire, because, too much boring and bad music in the musicbusiness, many...people forgett more and more about this kind of music. But the time will come when it feels good to retire. The best is to buy the D.S album, videos.... Bring in them in the Rock Hall Of Fame, if not what a mistake... too much text again. Thanks, /J.L
jackpot!
This live album is a classic. Every single song has an awesome groove to it. "Calling Elvis" is probably the most memorable one. It has some awesome guitar riffs, and one of the better drum solos I've heard in a while. Unlike most other bands, Dire Straits has recorded strong material from their debut, to their newer albums. All the other songs are great, also. I advise you to buy this album. This, and "Love Over Gold" are their finest albums. If you are a DS fan, this is a great selection for you. Buy it. I guarentee you will like it.
Classic rock at best
I still remember when I bought this CD when I was at school. You should try catching Mark Knopfler's "Elvis-Pelvis" number on video.
