Customer Reviews of Nuts & Volts
The best and only Nuts and Volts is the final remaining electronics hobbyist magazine. I received my first issue when Gernsback Publications closed their doors and transferred their subscriber lists over to N'n'V. <
> <
>Nuts and Volts isn't the perfect hobbyist resource. Since they need to target so many different interest groups, issues often feel incoherent, and only the most obsessive hobbyist will be seriously interested in everything an issue covers. <
> <
>Still, they've managed to stay enthusiastic and involved in a way Gernsback's staff became too tired for in the final years. Their authors are generally fairly strong and their technical review for articles is much better than average. Also due to their wide range of coverage, it's practically guaranteed that at least one or two articles per issue will really knock your socks off. <

>It's a unmatched value for the price and an excellent magazine. If you're interested -- even casually -- in electronics, you won't regret subscribing to Nuts and Volts.
Only Resource
This is the last remaining hobby electronic resource that I know of. The only good thing about the demise of Popular Electronics was that they asked Nuts & Volts to fill out our remaining subscriptions.
I used to read Nuts & Volts when it was in a larger format, and at that time the articles were a little obscure and more technical than I was capable of building. However, even then the magazine sparked my imagination and challenged me to grow my skills.
In their current format they provide a smattering of everything, for both the beginner and the experienced among us. The articles are informative and inspirational. Even their advertising section proves useful. If you are interested in hobby electronics and need a good starting point, this is your only resource.
Something For Everyone
'Tis hard to pin this little gem down. Format changed to more managable size 8 1/2 X 11. There are: How tos, in-depth circuit analysis, software and why it works plus. Projects of the issue has layouts for full size pcb(hard part), parts list for the do everything parts stuffer and solderer and tinkers and then there is the complete assembled & tested kit. We just can't wait! Got a fantastic Protek 506 multi-meter by using the magazine and saved a bundle. There buy and sell listing and event calendars.I 've always learned something this and I am 56 y.o. Give it a try and you'll be hooked too.
