Nox's story of a harmless auto mechanic who gets accidentally sucked into a fantasy world immediately sets this game apart from its dark and dour brethren. Nox is funny, and it's refreshing to play an RPG that tries to put a smile on your face.
Game play, dungeons, puzzles, and even the story are slightly altered, depending on Jack's class, giving three separate single-player experiences, all leading to the same final showdown with Hecubah. The quests are typical RPG fare--find this, kill that, rescue these guys--spiced up with puzzles relating to the class's abilities or environment.
The Nox team's energies went toward creating a game that's fast, fun, and easy to play. It worked. No knock-off, it won't be long before we start seeing games influenced by the innovative designs of Nox. --Mike Fehlauer

Customer Reviews of Nox
Good, but not a classic I bought this game while I was bored one evening. I went to my local best buy looking for something to hold my ever shortening attention span and I saw this on the shelf. For lack of something else I bought it and was happily supprised. It entertained me for a good three nights while I played it in the evenings with my shiny new Conjurer. The game play is sort of diablo-ish, but not quite as much of a dungeon crawl. Your scenery constantly changes as you wander on your quest to save nox (and get back home to your... trailer park?). I had a blast playing this game and was really eager to play it multi-player. Which horribly crushed me when I discovered it was only death-match (okay, okay, it has capture the flag too, but I still call that death-match). No co-operative play what-so-ever. This really killed the games re-playability in my eyes. It's a lot of fun winning the game solo, but I just can't bring myself to pick it up anymore, and i'm sorry, but these types of games just weren't ment for deathmatch.
All in all, a great single player game, but if you're looking for a lasting multiplayer experience, I'd go elsewhere.
Loads of fun
By now Nox is considered a pretty old game I'm sure, and it's long been discontinued by Westwood, sadly we probably won't ever see a sequel. I played it years ago and this review is an ode to the late nights I spent immersed in its gameworld, I haven't found a PC RPG to match it since. Let me tell you, journeying through this world and experiencing all its surprises is an awesome experience. It's got plenty of creatures and new environments so it stays fresh. Not to mention a great music soundtrack. I didn't usually sit down to play single-player games before Nox, it's just plain fun and addictive. Great for casual players and even people who don't normally like RPGs, because of its fun, action-oriented gameplay.
It's often compared to the Diablo series of games, and justifiably so, it borrows its premise from Diablo but is a vast improvement. Nox's gameplay and control mechanisms kick the crap out of both Diablo games to date. The downfall being the lack of cooperative multiplayer. Multiplayer is a 2-38 player deathmatch, which I had a lot of fun with, but it would be nice to adventure together with friends. They later released a cooperative add-on for free on the web but I never played it so I don't know how it matched up to the single-player experience.
cool game
this is one of the neatest games I've played. OK there are no chick characters and you can only customize you char so much, BUT it's so funny. The sound effects, and the visual is just great. It's not very realistic looking and it's a little faster than what I was used to, but it's definitely way too much fun (extremely time consuming, as every time I play, I end up at my computer for hours!)
story immediately and funny, put and altered, to are fare--find class's environment.
