Customer Reviews of Norton Internet Security 2007
AVOID AVOID AVOID Just terrible software. Often does not work - if that would be the only thing it would be enough. But it is worse than that. Bogs down your computer big time. Makes it run super slow. Horrible. Whoever has written good reviews must be shills for Norton. Avoid. Repeat. Avoid.
Bad Software - Terrible Support
I downloaded this software to update my virus protection. I opted for the full internet security which was a BIG mistake. The software is not user friendly. The download itself was complicated and time consuming. It is difficult to remove unwanted features and impossible to remove some. Also, the company's refusal to provide any type of convenient support when you buy their product is extremely frustrating.

>Do not waste your time or money on this product.
Great interface, Great features. Good Protection. Poor support.
I have used Norton Internet Security for many years. I like it because of the all-in-one protection. Although it has never taken the top seat for best protection it has always managed to come in second. The current top leader for protection is McAfee Security Center. But the differnece is very minute. I tried out McAfee Security Center 2007 before coming back to Norton Internet Security 2007. McAfee's interface is horrible and very limited. If you think there are a lot of bad reviews about NIS 2007, just go over to McAfee's page and see the bad reviews over there.

>The bad reviews on this page break down into two catigories. Installation Problems and the lack of Spam filter, Ad blocking and Parental controls in the 2007 package. The latter can be resolved by downloading 2007 free Ad ON Pack here: http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/custserv.nsf/docid/2006092616462646.. The free ad on pack contains spam filter, ad blocking, and Parental Controls feature missing from the 2007 Security Package. Why did Symantec not include these with the package? My guess would be that most people like to use dedicated software (like Webroots top rated Spy Sweeper) for these other functions.

>As to the installation problems people have had. Well, there are millions of little progams that people run on their computers that might interfere with the proper installation and functionallity of a major security suite. The first thing to realize is that intalling a major secuiity suite like NIS 2007 or McAfee's Securit Center, is not the same as installing the newest messaanger or firefox. It is a major progam and you have to prepare for it's installation almost in the same way you would prepare to upgrade your Operation system. If you don't, you will end up having a lot of trouble, like most of the people on this page, but it will not be the programs fault.

> I only have two complaints about this program. It places a heavy burden on system resouces (but so does McAfee) and and you have to pay for customer support. But there are so very few companies that provide good support these days that bad customer support has becaome the rule, not the exception.

>The bottom line is this. Norton NIS beats McAfee Security Center hands down on interface and functionality. McAfee is slightly better on security, if you can get it to work right, which if you check out the reviews for McAfee you will find out that 9 out 10 reviewers had significant installation and functionality problems. I personally had no installation problems with McAfee, but found that there were many menu options that were not availible or did not work as they were desined to work. After many emails to McAfee tech support I was told that these were known defects in the program and that McAfee had no plans of fixing them.

>So the coice is yours. Choose your poison, Norton or McAfee. These are the two top rated progams on the market. You are bound to find something you don't like about either of them or any other security program. But what choice to we have? We have to have something!
