The sleek Nokia N800 Internet Tablet combines a truly personal Internet experience with easy wireless connections, high resolution display and support for a wide variety of Internet applications. Built to be constantly in use, you easily stay in touch with business associates, friends, and family thanks to its Internet calling, instant messaging and email connectivity. The main form of connectivity is Wi-Fi (802.11b/g), and hooking up to a network is as simple as connecting with a laptop. You can also use the integrated Bluetooth wireless connectivity to hook up with a cell phone that is compatible with online data services. When connected to either a WLAN network or to a cell phone, you can make calls using the built-in Internet telephony application as well as conduct video conferencing with the built-in Web cam.

The N800 provides 256 MB of onboard flash memory and 128 MB of RAM. It also offers two expansion slots that are compatible with Secure Digital (SD), MultiMedia, miniSD, and microSD memory cards with a size limit of 2 GB. (Adapter required for miniSD and microSD.) You can also connect the N800 to a PC using the included USB cable to update software and transfer files from the PC to the a memory card. For multimedia playback, the N800 is compatible with MP3 and WMA digital audio files (as well as AAC, M3U, and WAV), Real Audio streams, and video files encoded as AVI or MPEG4. Additionally, with the UPnP media server functionality, you can share your music, video, and photos with others on the same Wi-Fi network. The N800 has two integrated speakers as well as a headphone jack for personal listening.

Access the web using the N800's Opera web browser, which provides Flash 7 multimedia support. Other applications include an RSS feed reader (for accessing all your favorite news sources), a PDF reader, image viewer, Internet radio player, and instant messenger with voice and video conferencing capabilities (using the Jabber and Google Talk services).

The Nokia N800 Internet Tablet is a good mobile communications tool. With a WIFI connection you are ready to communicate or receive information just like being in front of your PC. One drawback regarding the Tablet, there are certain streaming websites that I am unable to view, particularly those requiring JAVA. Recently I've added a GPS to the unit and is working fine. Altogether, I am satisfied with the product except for the streaming of JAVA driven websites.

Excellent device but not perfect
I have been using my N800 for a week now. I have to say it is an amazing device. I will add this right away, if you have vision issues you might not have as much fun using this, or other, devices of this size and resolution. Reason being they are packing 800x480 pixels in a small screen size. That means the pixels are smaller so characters will be in proportion smaller. Yes, when using the browser you can "zoom" the display so that's nice but it can make a web page/site very difficult to use. I do not think of this as a short coming but rather just a fact of life for all small display's with high pixel density. Just divide the number of pixels by the dimension of the display and then do the same for a larger display but with the same number of pixels and you see why the characters must be very teeny is some cases. So, that past is just a heads-up for those who might not be aware of the issue and it really only applies to web browsing. The font on the system itself are quite easy to read. <

This make all the difference in terms of the above issue. If you have visions probs and want tread ebooks on this device you can by simply setting a larger font size as well as background color. But remember the software does not support any sort of DRM'd books. If you want to read DRM'd books a good Palm based device (Sony Clie nx73v if you can find one or a Palm Tx) or a Kindle would be my suggestions. <

I Love My Nokia Internet Tablet!
I've purchased a Nokia N800 after an extensive research on the unit. It's a great little device if you want a compact internet browser you can take with you almost everywhere you go. There's a learning curve since the unit runs Linux, but it's not too steep. If you have a modicum of computer knowledge you will be fine with this device. I just love browsing the web while I'm out and about. I no longer have to lug around a laptop. There's a ton of free software to make the device as useful as you want it to be. I've flashed it to OS2008 from OS2007 and made it bootable from the internal SD card--not for the faint of heart but it makes a difference in functionality. There's so much you can do with this device, it's almost mind boggling. you can't call yourself a techie, unless you have an N800. I love my Nokia N800.
