I was watching TV one night and all of a sudden No cure for Cancer comes on. I wasn't even into stand up acts that much but I decided to watch it since I had heard of Denis Leary before and I wanted to see what would happen. It started out with his famous song "a-hole", which I immediately thought was funny. But then when the stand up started I was laughing like I had never laughed before. I usually don't laugh at things out loud, especially things on TV, and especially when I'm alone at night. But this was some funny stuff, people. His bits on Cocaine, NyQuil, meat, and he talks about death and he makes death funny. He also does an impression of people with voice boxes and it is just laugh-out-loud comedy! He curses a lot, but so does almost every other comedian that ever lived! I bought the cd after watching it on TV and I would've paid twice as much for it. I have listened to it probably 25 times after buying it a month and a half ago. By the way, I've never heard Bill Hicks' comedy before but I'm sure it's funny. But even if Denis Leary did steal any of his comedy, there's no way he stole all of it. And the parts about smoking (which is what Bill Hicks' comedy is supposed to be based on mainly) isn't only what's funny on Denis's cd. Everything Denis made up on the cd is funny, plus whatever he may have stolen from Bill Hicks' stand up. So buy this cd, and I know you will be happy you bought it. I'm only 14, and Denis Leary has shown me that stand up comedy is funny.

Newsflash - You can like Denis Leary AND Bill Hicks shock!
It got real boring, real fast, reading all the pious reviewers giving this low marks because Leary is like Bill Hicks. Hicks was a genius - ok, lets get that out of the way.

But you know what, you can be heavily influenced (there is no material steal, just style and attitude) and still be very funny and relevent. And Leary is. This is funny. Do you never listen to Led Zeppelin, because they "ripped off" Willy Dixon? Do you never watch Tarantino because he ripped of every style under the sun? Do you not watch Star Wars because it was based loosely on Lord Of The Rings? No, of course not.

My test is, is it funny and does the material have enough originality to stand up on its own. Yes to both, this is a very funny and well executed show. If some of you feel that you can't listen to it subjectively because you feel "right on" about his style being influenced by another, then fine. However you had better throw out most of your CD collection, book collection and DVD collection if you feel that way, because guess what!!!.....

For anyone out there who have been blessed with the comedy of Bill Hicks you will know exactly what I mean.
Denis Leary has made a living by stealing word for word idea for idea in most cases the work of a far greater comedian.
Leary does not have a talented bone in his body, oh except for when he is doing his MILLER commercials. Get the f*&% off the artisitc roll call you no talent cracker.
If you wantt o hear Denis leary dooing bill hicks then by this.

BUt if you want to hear the real thing and better times 1 million then please by BILL HICKS, your life will change for the better. I promise you that.
