On the Road to Freedom
A little over a year ago, I read Lester's autobiography. As the Master Jesus said over 2000 years ago when speaking of miracles, "These things you can do also", Lester found the way to heal body, mind and spirit in our contemporary times. He tells of a practical method to achieve the same. This book has changed my life. I recommend Lester's story to people of all ages. My entire family, from ages 14 to 92, have learned what Lester learned and have many thanks to give.
I have read many books in the self help field, both personally and academically. The difference between gathering data and theory is having the actual experience. Nothing compares to this. I have read Deepok Chopra, Marianne Williamson, Jean Houston, Sandra Ingerman and many theorists in psychology from Freud to Jung. The difference is simply this: Lester explains how he came upon a method of healing that came from the inside out and how in a very short time, he accomplished what everyone just tells us about, he totally healed his life on all levels. Lester paves the way to mastership for us all. It is not just another book to gather information. You'll have the road to freedom paved right before your eyes. 5 stars doesn't do it justice. 10 stars is more like it.

An absolute treasure...
The autobiography of Lester Levenson is an absolute treasure! I had tears in my eyes and a huge smile on my face as I flipped from page to page, seeing how Lester's life was not always roses, but eventually became that way.

Reading about Lester's life, I found myself extremely inspired and heartened. I've been on the spiritual path for a long time, but have never read a book like this. Most books I have read about spiritual masters were "post-enlightenment" so I usually never got a sense of what life was like for them before they realized their freedom -- and I think it is so important and valuable to realize that they were once in the same exact boat we each find ouselves in!

If you are on the spiritual path and you think that those who have attained absolute freedom just wouldn't be able to relate to your mundane life and sufferings, then this book is for you -- for it shows just how very much they do understand and how, at least this master, has gone through the very same difficulties, only to become victorious over life and death to attain that permanent peace and lasting happiness we all seek.

I would love to share more details of Lester's life with you as he describes in his autobiography, but I wouldn't want to spoil it for you. Let's just say he goes from one extreme of hardship and limitation -- and mental, emotional and physical suffering -- to the complete opposite extreme of absolute freedom, perfect health, abundance, lasting peace and joy -- when he discovered the secret of living a free, happy and abundant life. (That secret is revealed in this book!).

Lester, a Western spiritual master who some have compared to Ramana Maharshi in the similarities of his awakening, was the one who introduced the Release Technique to the world. When the student is ready... the teacher appears.
Not everyone will like this book. It is, in fact, short. Lester is not a particularly gifted writer. And his story starts slowly and wanders the first half of the book. With that said, it is also one of the most powerful and life changing books I've read. It's precisely because Lester's story is told so genuinely and honestly that I could relate to it so well. He was a typical compulsive, workaholic businessman who pushed himself relentlessly until he became a physical and emotional trainwreck by age 43- and found himself facing a premature death. With dogged determination, he decided to set his mind on nothing else but discovering the true meaning and essense of life. His findings/revelations produced such a profound sense of peace in himself that he lived another 40 years and touched a lot of people's lives. I think you would enjoy this book tremendously if your current belief system causes you angst (mine did) and you are searching for a new or better framework upon which to base your life.
