Customer Reviews of Night Moves
Seger Moves On Up Night Moves was Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band's ticket to the big time. After years of clawing just beneath the surface, the band broke through thanks in large part to the success of their "Live" Bullet album and then the nostalgic title track. The song perfectly captures those awkward adolescent years where young boys try to make with the young girls. The song was his first top ten hit and propelled the album into the top ten as well. The album is full of wonderful songs like the declarative "Rock & Roll Never Forgets" and the wistful "Mainstreet".
Classic song, lots of to-be-realized potential
This is where I first was introduced to Bob Seger. Like many others, I first heard him in the mid seventies on FM rock & roll radio through the title cut of this album.
"Night Moves", to my mind is one of the greatest rock songs ever. Of course, songs about long-lost youth (sometimes sadly misspent, sometimes wonderfully misspent), and long lost loves often make the best and the most memorable ones.
The rest of this album is fine, with lots of good songs. "Rock & Roll Never Forgets", "Fire Down Below" and "Mainstreet" are among my favorites. Seger was one of the last great rockers, who I think was as consistently creative as the much more commercially popular Bruce Springsteen. He has put together a fantastic collection of songs. This album is a great addition.
Seger's best work
This album is simply a killer. Bob Seger in those days was playing raw, essential rock and roll at its best.
There's not a loser on this whole album, but the title song is a must hear. And "The Fire Down Below" is the one of the best workouts a Telecaster will ever get. It's a smoking, hook-filled, howling rock masterpiece. Seger outdid himself on this album and never again reached this high water mark.
Don't miss out on Night Moves.
